Our Simple Edible Fern Garden Growing Near Home Providing Fresh Food Comfort and Everyday Peace of Family

Hello, my dear hive gardeners. Life became busy and some days felt heavier than usual. During times like this, I find myself going back to the garden. It is a quiet place where I can breathe, think and slowly feel okay again. Today, I want to share a simple story about our edible fern garden.

Edible ferns grow naturally in our area. They can be found in many places, especially where the soil is moist and the air cool. Because our place has a cooler climate, every morning the fogs covered the entire place, ferns grow very well here. Before, we usually gathered edible ferns from nearby areas. They were not very far, but we thought it would be more convenient if we planted some closer to our home.

One day, we decided to bring home four edible fern plants. We planted them near the house so they would be easy to reach. This way, when we prepare breakfast, we can quickly harvest fresh ferns without walking far. It was a simple idea, but it turned out to be very helpful for our daily routine.

The ferns adjusted well to their new place. The soil stayed moist; the weather helped a lot. We did not need to water them because the area is naturally cool and damp. We just made sure that the space around was free from weeds. Other than that, we let nature do its work.

After almost two months, we noticed a big change. The four fern plants started to multiply. New shoots kept growing, and the small curled tips appeared almost every week. It was nice to see how fats they spread. From just a few plants, our edible fern garden slowly became fuller and greener.

We do not use fertilizers or pesticides here, allowing the fern to grow naturally, stay safe for our family, protect the soil, water, insects and keep the garden green and clean always.

Now, harvesting is easy and enjoyable. Early in the morning, we can pick fresh fern for our breakfast. They are tender, fresh and perfect for simple dishes. Having food growing just a few steps away from our house gives a feeling of comfort. It reminds me that food does not always have to come from far away or from the market.

Our favorite way to cook edible fern is by lightly sauteing them with onion and tomato. Sometimes we add egg and we make sometimes adobo fern, we add oyster for keeping the flavor perfect for family breakfast. Even we eat edible ferns almost every day, I like it always. Their fresh taste and simple dishes always feel comforting, nourishing and perfect for our family needs.

This edible fern garden may look simply, but it means a lot to me. It shows how small efforts can turn into something useful and lasting.
