Our Favorite Snacks at Home: Everyday Treats for Our Farm Workers

Hello, everyone!
Here in our home, we prepare different kinds of food almost every day, especially snacks for our farm workers. Sometimes I do the cooking, sometimes my mother does with my sister in law's help, and most of the time, we help each other. Thinking about what snacks to prepare has become part of our daily routine. Haha!

My parents asked me to cook Maja Blanca. At first, I was hesitant because it contains coconut milk. I thought it might not be suitable for someone who is sick, but my father insisted that I cook it. So, I finally agreed. Haha! My mother wanted peanuts on top, while my father preferred cheese. In the end, we prepared it with two different toppings so everyone could enjoy their favorite.

Next is banana cue! But we sliced our bananas lengthwise instead of cutting them into the usual round pieces. This is how my daughter wants especially when they have plenty of sugar. You know how children are! When it is their favorite snack, they are always happy to eat it.

Of course, we also have turon, one of the usual afternoon snacks for our farm workers. Sometimes, I feel like I have already become their official snack preparer. Haha! But thankfully, I am not alone because my mother helps me, too. She even starts preparing the turon the night before so everything will be ready for the next day.

My mother also cooks pancit, using the style that our family loves. Personally, I prefer pancit with a little more sauce, but my family likes it differently. Well, they are the ones who will eat it, so I just follow what they prefer. Haha!

And, of course, we cannot forget our favorite lumpia! My family and our workers always request it from me. They even call me Ms. Lumpia because I make it so often. I guess that is already my title in our household!

My mother also loves making kakanin. Since she is an Ilocana, she knows how to prepare delicious traditional delicacies.

Life here may be simple, but I enjoy these foodtrip everyday. Preparing food is one way we show our love and appreciation for our family and farm workers. After all, good food tastes even better when shared with the people around us.
