Buying School Supplies for Children While Supporting Community Outreach and Flores de Mayo Activities Together

Hello everyone! Today was one of those meaningful and productive days that reminded me how important community involvement and volunteerism truly are. Despite having a busy schedule in life, I always believe that making time for activities that bring people together is something valuable and fulfilling.

As the Vice President of our chapel and one of the committee members for the Flores de Mayo celebration, I became part of the preparations for this yearly activity that many children and families look forward to. Flores de Mayo is widely celebrated in many communities in the Philippines during the month of May. Aside from the colorful flowers and activities, it also becomes a way to encourage unity, participation, and involvement among young people and parents in the community.

Today, our priest and some mothers from the church visited us for a meeting and sharing of ideas regarding the preparation. During our discussion, I suggested asking for support from a friend of mine who is now a successful business owner and also my former classmate back in college. I was very happy and thankful because they welcomed the idea positively.

One of the most special parts of the day was receiving boxes of school supplies for the children. Seeing people willing to help and support community activities is truly inspiring. It reminded me that small acts of generosity can create a big impact, especially for young kids who will benefit from these simple gifts. All are happy and their parents chatting and saying thank you so much.

After the meeting, I also went to town to buy additional school supplies and snacks for the children. To maintain transparency and proper accountability, all receipts were submitted to our treasurer and to the person who extended financial support. For me, transparency is important in every outreach activity because it builds trust and shows respect to those who are helping.

It also makes me happy seeing more people actively attending the Flores de Mayo activities. The church becomes lively, children become more active, and the sense of community becomes stronger. Moments like this show that even simple gatherings can create meaningful connections among people.

Even with the pressures and responsibilities of daily life, participating in activities like this gives a different kind of fulfillment.

Someday, I also hope to organize more outreach activities in our place in the mountains. It has always been one of my dreams to give back and help children and families in our community in the future.
