Adding Color to Our Garden: Sunflowers Bloom as Our Pechay Faces Unexpected Challenges

🌻Hello, everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful day wherever you are. I always shared how gardening became my stress therapy while balancing online work and simple farm life. Today, I want to share another chapter of our gardening journey because our garden has changed once again.🌻

One of the most beautiful additions to our garden is the sunflowers. Their bright yellow flowers instantly brought color and happiness to our small space. Every morning, I love seeing them standing tall under the sunlight. They make our garden look more alive and peaceful. But more than that, they have become my daughter's favorite part of the garden. She enjoys looking at them every day, checking if new flowers have bloomed, and simply spending time near them. Seeing her smile while enjoying nature makes me realize that simple things can create the happiest childhood memories.

Our vegetable garden is still growing as well. We continue planting string beans, and pechay because we love having fresh vegetables just a few steps away from our farmhouse. There is something very satisfying about harvesting vegetables that you planted with your own hands. It not only saves money but also gives us confidence that the food we prepare for our family is fresh.

However, gardening is not always easy. This season, I noticed that our pechay did not grow as healthy and beautiful as before. Since our vegetable garden is located beside our rice field, it was affected by the spraying of herbicides and pesticides used during rice farming. Even though we were careful, the smell and chemical drift reached some of the pechay. Their leaves became weaker, and they lost the fresh green appearance that I was hoping for. It was a little disappointing because I had been excited to harvest them.

Still, I understand that farming comes with many challenges. Weather, insects, plant diseases, and even nearby farm activities are things that farmers cannot always control. Instead of becoming discouraged, I choose to see this as another lesson. Every season teaches us something new, and every challenge helps us become more patient and knowledgeable. So we need to make another area for our pechay a safe and free from chemicals.

Despite these small setbacks, our garden continues to be my favorite place after long hours of working online. Spending most of my day in front of a computer often makes my eyes tired and my mind feel overwhelmed. But once I step outside, breathe the fresh air, water the plants, and quietly observe their growth, I immediately feel more relaxed. Gardening has become my own form of therapy. It reminds me to slow down, appreciate the present moment, and enjoy the beauty that God has created.

I am also thankful for my husband, who patiently shares his farming knowledge with me. Since he has been farming for many years, I continue learning from his experience every single day. Working together in the garden has become one of our favorite family activities, and it feels wonderful to build something meaningful together.

If there is one message I would like to share, it is this: don't be afraid to start a small garden. It doesn't need to be perfect. Some plants may struggle, while others will bloom in the own time. What matters is the joy and lessons that gardening brings into our lives. Every seed planted carries hope, and every flower reminds us that growth takes time. Let grow our garden together.

Thank you! Sunflower gives life towards the garden. I hope when the flowers become old and I can produce seeds so I can plant more here in our farm.

Sunflowers are a wonderful addition to the garden. We didn't plant any this year. I wanted to take a picture of a sunflower field, I pass by it every day on my way to work. But the temperatures are unbearable. We are waiting for the sun to cool down and more activity from Sunday.

El Girasol como se le conoce en mi país, una planta muy curiosa, que gira siempre buscando el sol. Además de dar un muy buen aceite sus semillas.
