Hello, my dear friends 🌿

Lately, life has been simple yet meaningful here at our farm. One of the things I always look forward to every year is the mango harvest from my in-laws’ backyard. We only have two mango tree, but it never fails to give us so much fruit.

Harvesting day is always a family effort. My husband climbs the tree carefully, picking the mangoes one by one, while my brother-in-law waits below to catch them. My nieces and sister-in-law help clean each mango, wiping them gently to make them look presentable, especially for those we plan to sell.

Some of the harvest we deliver straight to the market, while others we keep for our own consumption. We brought a box of mangoes to our farmhouse, and my daughter was so excited. She helped arrange them one by one inside the carton.
To ripen them naturally, I placed leaves of madre de cacao and gemelina.

It’s something I learned from the elders they say it makes the mangoes sweeter. Also what we did in our banana. Every day, my daughter would open the box, checking if they were ready, her excitement growing each time.

Today was the moment she had been waiting for. Finally, the mangoes were ripe and ready to eat. Their outside didn’t look perfect some had spots and marks but the sweetness was something else. Truly, sometimes the best things are not the most beautiful on the outside. The beauty is not always seen outside, sometimes the best things are the ones that look simple or imperfect.
