THE HARDWORK OF WRITING

The art of recording things using pen and paper has been one of the most important ways of preserving information for the generation of people to come. The oldest means of communication is pen and paper. Ok... maybe not. I don't know which means of communication is the oldest and I do not trust whatever google is going to tell me. So I believe that pen and paper is the oldest means of communication...maybe I should qualify the communication as long distance communication.

It wont be news to say that writing has evolved over the years and varied categories of writing has made it a thriving field of endeavor. Many people who are excellent writers started in various ways, but I started by writing how I feel, or what I feel in a fashion that may or may not depict my story. Ok... that sounded like a lot of jargon when I read it again.

The truth is, I am no writer...at least by my own standards. I have written a few stories, I have been writing on hive since I joined. In fact, I would rather write than speak. But I still lack that touch I feel every writer should have. That compelling force that keeps you reading till the very end... I think I am yet yo gain that.

But if writing a few lines over the years has taught me anything, it is that writing is hard work. It takes a lot of composure and brain power to pen down thoughts in an orderly fashion. I recently tried to keep a diary and, Boy did I fail woefully. I couldn't even stay consistent for a week.

it was hard coming back after a stressful day and writing down everything in a diary. Sometimes I would write, cancel, write again, tear it off and write all over again. Coming up with thought processes to write about is difficult... But I found that the more I write, the easier it is to write. It is like a muscle. the more you use that muscle, the more effective it becomes.

I want to write stories, I have ideas swimming in my head, but that discipline of sitting down and penning everything down in a fashion that is intelligent and legible is where the hard work lies. Maybe it's because I have been trying to do a perfect work for a very long time.. but no one suddenly does a perfect work without practice. Of course, I have learnt to write and flow, a rough but consistent stream of thoughts.

I have learnt in writing that consistency with improvement is more important than writing a perfect story once a month. If anything, having this 60 days posting spree has taught me to write, and keep writing. And I am enjoying every bit of it. I can't wait to reach day 60. There is still a lot to talk about.

Even though writing is hard work, it is one that is fulfilling for me.

Writing something and engaging daily are definitely one of the ways my brain is able to process and clean things up and out. It’s a good habit to be in I think! Plus with something like hive there’s a little bit of crypto incentive to it all which is nice!

I agree. Writing can be in certain ways, therapeutic. Thanks to Hive, we get incentive for each therapy.
