Si no espero el tiempo, ¿qué podrá pasar? [ESP-ENG]

Algunas personas en determinado momento no estarán preparadas para ejercer ciertos cargos, pues el proceso que cumplieron fue inconcluso, y otros estarán preparados, pero, debido a los procesos burocráticos, o porque sencillamente algunas personas no harán cumplir la meritocracia, entonces perdieron una oportunidad por la irresponsabilidad de otros. Esto será más frecuente de lo que imaginamos.
En el primer caso algunos pensarán que será injusto no darles oportunidad a las personas, que si no lo intentaran no avanzarán, y entendí en el campo laboral que a veces no ha sido que las personas no merecieron oportunidades, sino que las cosas debían pasar por el proceso, cumplir un tiempo para hacer algo, porque de no hacerlo podrá traer serias consecuencias o, por lo menos, no lo esperado.
Pero lo más importante, de acuerdo con mi apreciación, es disfrutar en el camino ese proceso y que siempre apostemos a ser los mejores en todo lo que haremos.
A una compañera de trabajo que tuve le pasó que, por alguien querer mejorarla, la ascendió a un cargo para el cual en ese momento no estaba preparada, pues el proceso mediante el cual no había sido cubierto se sintió como pajarito en grama y pidió ser devuelta a su antiguo puesto de secretaria; ella estaba estudiando. Qué noble, valiente y madura fue porque tomar esa decisión no será fácil.
Con el tiempo la prepararon y después hizo un buen trabajo como controladora de documentos. Sin duda alguna, entendí que debemos respetar los tiempos de cada cosa y que este será nuestro mejor aliado para prepararnos en lo que deseemos hacer. Porque no bastará con que los demás lo desearan; con perseverancia, paciencia, tolerancia, motivación y respetando el proceso, cumpliremos nuestros sueños.
Recordé una vez que, como administradora de proyectos, hubo una vacante en otra empresa donde laboraba un amigo y él quería que fuera haya a laborar porque tenían mejores beneficios contractuales, pero buscaban era un planificador de proyectos, y en esa oportunidad me dijo. “Pero no le pares, total, tú dices que sabes hacerlo porque conoces el área de proyectos y después vas aprendiendo, yo te ayudaré”.
Some people may not be ready to take on certain positions at a given time because the process they went through was incomplete, while others may be ready but, due to bureaucratic processes—or simply because some people fail to uphold meritocracy—end up missing an opportunity because of others’ irresponsibility. This will happen more often than we imagine.
In the first case, some will think it’s unfair not to give people a chance—that if they don’t try, they won’t move forward. But I’ve learned in the workplace that sometimes it’s not that people didn’t deserve opportunities, but rather that things had to go through the process and meet certain time requirements to move forward, because failing to do so could lead to serious consequences—or, at the very least, results that fall short of expectations.
But the most important thing, in my view, is to enjoy that process along the way and to always strive to be the best in everything we do.
A coworker of mine had an experience where, because someone wanted to help her grow, she was promoted to a position for which she wasn’t ready at the time. Since the position hadn’t gone through the proper hiring process, she felt like a fish out of water and asked to be returned to her former position as a secretary; she was still in school. How noble, brave, and mature of her—because making that decision couldn’t have been easy.
Over time, they trained her, and she went on to do a great job as a document controller. Without a doubt, I realized that we must respect the timing of each thing and that this will be our best ally in preparing ourselves for whatever we want to do. Because it won’t be enough for others to want it; with perseverance, patience, tolerance, motivation, and respect for the process, we will make our dreams come true.
I remembered a time when, as a project manager, there was an opening at another company where a friend of mine worked. He wanted me to go work there because they offered better benefits, but they were looking for a project planner. At the time, he told me, “Don’t worry about it. After all, you say you know how to do it because you’re familiar with project management, and you’ll learn as you go—I’ll help you.”

Eso me pareció que no era una buena decisión, por lo cual no acepté. Debemos ser humildes y entender hasta dónde llegará nuestro límite de batería y preguntarnos hasta qué punto pondremos en riesgo esa confianza y oportunidad que nos dieron, porque es de suponer que cuando damos una palabra será para cumplir y no para quedar mal. Más aún en un proyecto donde los tiempos de ejecución eran vitales; no se estaba para ensayo y error.
No en vano siempre han existido los perfiles y cargos para los cuales los reclutadores de personal trabajarán y se prepararán para estructurarlos y definirlos. Todos los cargos y su proceso para obtenerlos serán importantes dentro de cualquier empresa, comunidad, entre otros, pues todos irán entrelazados, y que cuando lo ejecutamos con cariño y pasión, eso nos traerá beneficios; sobre todo el bienestar personal, pues nos sentiremos felices de hacer lo que nos gustó.
Y no será cuestión de dudar de nuestras capacidades, pero consideré que cada quien con humildad y sinceridad deberá reconocer sus capacidades, para qué está preparado y para qué no, “zapatero a su zapato”, y en caso de querer cambiar de posición, porque todo será válido, no podemos olvidar que todo conllevará un proceso, mediante el cual, que será corto, mediano o largo, no lo sé, pero eso jamás se debería obviar, y nuestra responsabilidad será prepararnos para afrontar nuevos retos.
En algunos momentos pasé por procesos que no fueron lo mejor; algunos los deseché, otros fueron buenos y les eché pichón y de eso se tratará la vida: de ir poco a poco avanzando, estudiando, preparándonos, porque algunas veces, cuando aceleramos los procesos y no esperamos su tiempo, algunas cosas no saldrán tan bien.
En una oportunidad renuncié a una empresa en la cual estuve por muchos años, y eso no importará, sino la decisión que cada quien tomara basada en los valores en los cuales fue formado; será de libre albedrío. Lo que no esté escrito en cualquier proceso no lo podremos considerar, y menos cuando estampamos nuestra firma; debemos proteger nuestro nombre.
That didn’t seem like a good decision to me, so I declined. We must be humble and understand our limits, and ask ourselves to what extent we’ll jeopardize the trust and opportunity we’ve been given—because it goes without saying that when we give our word, it’s to keep it, not to let anyone down. This is even more true in a project where deadlines were critical; there was no room for trial and error.
It’s no coincidence that there have always been job profiles and positions that recruiters work to structure and define. All positions and the process for obtaining them are important within any company or community, among others, since they are all interconnected; and when we carry them out with care and passion, it will bring us benefits—above all, personal well-being, since we’ll feel happy doing what we love.
And it’s not a matter of doubting our abilities, but I believe that each of us, with humility and sincerity, must recognize our capabilities—what we’re prepared for and what we’re not—“to each his own,” and if we want to change positions—because everything is valid—we can’t forget that everything involves a process, which may be short, medium, or long; I don’t know, but that should never be overlooked, and our responsibility will be to prepare ourselves to face new challenges.
At times, I went through experiences that weren’t the best; I let some go, while others were good and I gave them my all—and that’s what life is all about: moving forward little by little, learning, and preparing ourselves, because sometimes, when we rush things and don’t give them time to unfold, some things won’t turn out so well.
On one occasion, I resigned from a company where I’d worked for many years, and that won’t matter—what matters is the decision each person makes based on the values they were raised with; it will be a matter of free will. Anything that isn’t written into a process cannot be considered, especially once we’ve signed our name; we must protect our reputation.
Todos pasamos por procesos, unos más apacibles, alegres, otros dolorosos y hasta crueles, y algunas veces las personas se calan ciertos procesos por necesidad, pero los invito a intentar que esos últimos no nos debiliten. Saquemos esas fuerzas de donde fueran, porque tampoco tenemos la culpa de que algunas personas intentaran pagar sus frustraciones con los demás; de esos vi más de una vez.
Y aun así, lo que hacemos que fuera con la mayor pasión y entender y madurar que, para que haya éxito y se logren las cosas, deberá ser trabajando y haciéndonos amigos de la paciencia y tolerancia, y eso aplicará para todo. Que cuando algo no se diera, pasemos nuestros duelos y no nos quedemos anclados allí ni con el pasado, porque ya lo que pasó no tendrá vuelta atrás.
Mirar con fe, optimismo, paciencia, tolerancia y con la certeza de que vendrán tiempos mejores y de que, para que eso se diera, debemos prepararnos para afrontar cada proceso; de esa parte tendrá gran responsabilidad el hogar.
Porque, ¿se imaginan si quisiéramos comernos un huevo? Y, por andar de apurados, nos comimos la gallina, ¡anja!, ¿qué podrá pasar? En caso de querer ser el mejor camionero, pues se deberá aprender a manejarlos y después sacar la licencia; se imaginarán si alguien sin ese aprendizaje agarrara el camión y se lanzara por esas vías a lo loco, ¿qué podrá pasar?
Y así muchísimas cosas más de todo tipo, y no importará el punto cardinal donde nos encontraremos. Entonces, debemos respetar los tiempos en cada proceso, y eso aplicará para todo lo que necesite esa estructura, y la paciencia y la tolerancia deberán hacer su gala de permanencia en cada ser humano porque gran parte de las cosas en la vida llevarán un proceso del cual nadie escapará.
We all go through processes—some peaceful and joyful, others painful and even cruel—and sometimes people endure certain processes out of necessity, but I invite you to try not to let those painful ones weaken us. Let’s draw strength from wherever we can, because it’s not our fault that some people try to take out their frustrations on others; I’ve seen that happen more than once.
And even so, whatever we do, let’s do it with the greatest passion, and let’s understand and come to realize that, in order to succeed and achieve our goals, we must work hard and cultivate patience and tolerance—and that applies to everything. When things don’t go as planned, let’s work through our grief but not get stuck there or in the past, because what’s done is done and cannot be undone.
We must look ahead with faith, optimism, patience, tolerance, and the certainty that better times are coming—and that, for that to happen, we must prepare ourselves to face every process; the home will bear a great deal of responsibility in this regard.
Because, can you imagine if we wanted to eat an egg? And, because we were in a hurry, we ended up eating the chicken—oh my!—what do you think would happen? If you want to be the best truck driver, you’ll have to learn how to drive one and then get your license; just imagine if someone without that training got behind the wheel and drove like a maniac on those roads—what do you think would happen?
And there are so many other things like this, of all kinds, no matter where in the world we find ourselves. So, we must respect the time required for each process, and that applies to everything that requires that structure. Patience and tolerance must be constant companions in every human being, because so many things in life involve a process that no one can escape.

Gente bella de #Empowertalent, para lograr vivir en bienestar, deberemos aprender a respetar los tiempos, obvio, de lo que necesariamente llevará implícito un proceso. Tal vez al esperar las manos nos sudaran, el estómago se contraerá, saldrá acné, entre otros, pero será justo y necesario hacerlo porque recordemos que habrá cosas que escaparán de nuestras manos y no las podremos controlar.
Habrá cosas que no necesitarán pasar por un proceso, y no pasará nada, pero de lo que sí, en caso de no respetar los tiempos, podrá pasar de todo, hasta lo inimaginable. Entonces, ¿qué podrá pasar? Cada quien desde su perspectiva mirará y valorará el proceso a su manera y todos tendrán sus razones y habrá que respetarlas.
Con el tiempo aprendí que todo proceso llevará su tiempo, que habrá procesos de procesos, incluso hasta esperar el tiempo necesario para que un duelo pase, cumplir con la carga académica necesaria para poder graduarnos, el tramitar cualquier documento, entre otros. Y al no entenderlo y aceptarlo, podremos desgastar energías innecesarias, trayendo como consecuencia enfermedades que podrán afectar la mente, el cuerpo y el espíritu.
Y eso debemos evitarlo a toda costa por nuestra salud. Por esa razón debemos entender y valorar el tiempo que se llevará cualquier proceso. Nadie dijo que fuera fácil; pero todo tendrá su tiempo perfecto y el saber esperar eso nos traerá excelentes beneficios. Y en el camino eso será lo que nos dará el ímpetu, las fuerzas para saber que la espera con paciencia traerá cosas buenas y lograremos que nuestros sueños se hicieran realidad.
En el caso de que el proceso no se haya dado y no lográramos el objetivo, tampoco pasará nada, pues quedaría como experiencia esa que nos ayudaría a volver a intentarlo, probablemente con un aprendizaje implícito; también nos hará crecer como seres humanos, buscando siempre el vivir en bienestar.
Y la verdad, nunca cambiaría ninguno de los procesos vividos porque, desde mi perspectiva, el querer cambiarlos modificaría lo que hasta hoy he vivido; dejaría de ser el yo actual y estoy orgullosa y agradecida con mi pasado con la vida, con Dios por tanto, aun con mis aciertos y desaciertos.
Dear #Empowertalent community, to live a life of well-being, we must learn to respect timelines—obviously, this will necessarily involve a process. Perhaps while we wait, our hands will sweat, our stomachs will knot up, we’ll break out in acne, and so on, but it’s only fair and necessary to do so because, let’s remember, there will be things beyond our control that we simply can’t manage.
There will be things that don’t need to go through a process, and nothing will happen, but for those that do, if we don’t respect the timing, anything could happen—even the unimaginable. So, what could happen? Each person, from their own perspective, will view and evaluate the process in their own way, and everyone will have their reasons, which we must respect.
Over time, I’ve learned that every process takes time—that there are processes within processes, including waiting for the necessary time for grief to pass, fulfilling the academic requirements to graduate, and processing paperwork, among other things. And if we fail to understand and accept this, we may waste unnecessary energy, leading to illnesses that can affect the mind, body, and spirit.
And we must avoid that at all costs for the sake of our health. That’s why we need to understand and appreciate how long any process will take. No one said it would be easy; but everything will happen in its own time, and knowing how to wait for that will bring us great benefits. And along the way, that’s what will give us the momentum and the strength to know that waiting patiently will bring good things and that we’ll make our dreams come true.
In the event that the process doesn’t unfold as planned and we don’t achieve our goal, it’s no big deal—it will remain as an experience that helps us try again, likely with a valuable lesson learned; it will also help us grow as human beings, always striving to live a life of well-being.
And honestly, I would never change any of the processes I’ve gone through because, from my perspective, wanting to change them would alter everything I’ve experienced up to this point; I would cease to be the person I am today, and I am proud and grateful for my past, for my life, and for God—even with my successes and failures.
