Un dia con mi hijo en la Universidad ESP-ENG

¡Hijo, me acompañas a clases!..así comenzó este maravilloso día.

Son, you're coming with me to class!...that's how this wonderful day began.

Mi hijo estaba acostumbrado, a que yo saliera y pasara largas horas fuera de casa por mis estudios, algunos días salir se convertía en una verdadera odisea, incluso lo llevaba a dar una vuelta por la urbanización antes de irme, porque dejarlo llorando o salir a escondidas es algo que me cuesta mucho hacer, otros días amanecía contento y simplemente me preguntaba ¿Mami clases?.

Desde que culmine mis clases, he tenido que ir regularmente a la Universidad, estoy cerrando mi expediente académico y recaudando todos los requisitos para mi grado, él como siempre quería ir conmigo y a mí me daba nostalgia dejarlo. Después de pensarlo, no vi ningún problema en que me acompañara, ya que generalmente los trámites se hacían muy rápido, pero el clima no estaba de nuestro lado.

Hasta que al fin llego la oportunidad, el día se veía despejado y el sol se asomaba resplandeciente, anunciando un buen clima, aunque en mi ciudad (Mérida, Venezuela) el clima es bastante impredecible, además mi facultad está a una hora de distancia aproximadamente y debo tomar dos rutas de transporte público para llegar; sin embargo, quería vivir esa experiencia, quería que conociera a donde iba todos los días, que conociera ese lugar que es tan importante para mí.

Al decirle, se emocionó demasiado, realmente estaba feliz, se dejó vestir sin problemas, pero no quiso desayunar, quería salir de inmediato. Entonces le envolví su desayuno y salimos. Él no dejaba de preguntarme por el bus. Porque es aficionado a los autobuses. Quiere salir detrás de ellos cada vez que ve uno.

My son was used to me going out and spending long hours away from home because of my studies, some days going out became a real odyssey, I even took him for a walk around the urbanization before leaving, because leaving him crying or sneaking out is something that is very hard for me to do, other days he woke up happy and just asked me "Mommy classes?

Since I finished my classes, I have had to go regularly to the University, I am closing my academic record and collecting all the requirements for my degree, he as always wanted to go with me and I was nostalgic to leave him. After thinking about it, I didn't see any problem in him accompanying me, since usually the paperwork was done very quickly, but the weather was not on our side.

The day was clear and the sun was shining brightly, announcing good weather, although in my city (Merida, Venezuela) the weather is quite unpredictable, plus my school is about an hour away and I have to take two public transportation routes to get there; however, I wanted to live that experience, I wanted him to know where I went every day, to know that place that is so important to me.

When I told him, he was too excited, he was really happy, he let himself get dressed without problems, but he didn't want to have breakfast, he wanted to leave immediately. So I wrapped up his breakfast and we went out. He kept asking me about the bus. Because he is fond of buses. He wants to go out after them every time he sees one.

Llegamos a la Facultad sin problemas, tomar el autobús fue rápido y fácil, algo que no sucede muy a menudo, por la gran demanda de personas que salen a sus sitios de trabajo. Al llegar lo primero que llamo su atención fue el autobús de la Universidad que se encontraba en la entrada, sus palabras fueron: ¡Mami mira un autobús grande!. Sin duda fue su momento del día favorito. Es en serio, le gustan mucho los autobuses.

Seguimos recorriendo los alrededores de la facultad y estaba sorprendido porque todo le parecía grande, le llamo la atención los colores de la Plaza, una obra del artista Cruz Diez, así que pasamos un buen rato ahí, deje que corriera y explorara un poco, no había nadie más solo nosotros.

We arrived at the Faculty without any problems, taking the bus was quick and easy, something that does not happen very often, due to the great demand of people leaving for their work places. Upon arrival the first thing that caught her attention was the University bus at the entrance, her words were: "Mommy look at a big bus! Without a doubt it was her favorite moment of the day. Seriously, she really likes buses.

We continued walking around the surroundings of the faculty and he was surprised because everything seemed big to him, the colors of the Plaza caught his attention, a work of the artist cruz diez, so we spent a good time there, I let him run and explore a little, there was no one else just us.

Busque un lugar adecuado para que él comiera su desayuno y entre a la Facultad a realizar mis trámites, al entrar su actitud cambio, estaba tímido, es normal, no conocía a nadie, coincidí con un par de amigos, ellos le hablaban y evitaba cualquier tipo de contacto y a todo respondía No.

Esto es algo normal en él, cuando conoce a alguien, a veces le cuesta adquirir confianza con los demás, tampoco lo presiono, él poco a poco, va cambiando su actitud cuando se siente seguro. Algunos niños tienen más habilidades para socializar que otros, todos tienen su propio ritmo y debemos respetárselo.

Una vez me entregaron mi constancia, salimos y disfrutamos un poco más de las áreas verdes y alrededores de la facultad y de la vista hermosa que nos ofrece la sierra nevada, él me insistía que quería ver de nuevo el bus, así que estuvo un buen rato admirándolo, es increíble como los niños se emocionan y son felices con cualquier cosa. Definitivamente, la infancia es hermosa.

I looked for a suitable place for him to eat his breakfast and went into the Faculty to do my paperwork, when I entered his attitude changed, he was shy, it is normal, he did not know anyone, I met a couple of friends, they talked to him and he avoided any kind of contact and answered No to everything.

This is normal for him, when he meets someone, sometimes it is difficult for him to gain confidence with others, I do not pressure him either, he gradually changes his attitude when he feels confident. Some children have more social skills than others, they all have their own pace and we must respect it.

Once I received my certificate, we went out and enjoyed a little more of the green areas and surroundings of the school and the beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada, he insisted that he wanted to see the bus again, so he spent a long time admiring it, it's amazing how children get excited and are happy with anything. Definitely, childhood is beautiful.

Este fue un gran día para ambos, lo que sería una salida tediosa, se convirtió en una mañana divertida, junto a la mejor compañía, mi hijo, fue una gran oportunidad para distraernos y pasar tiempo de calidad, mientras él conocía un lugar distinto, descubría nuevas cosas que favorecen su crecimiento. Es bueno, invitarlos cuando sea posible a nuestra vida de adulto, a que conozcan un poco más de nosotros y nuestras ocupaciones, además esto fortalece aún más nuestros lazos y ellos se sienten amados e integrados.

Muchas gracias por leerme, siempre es un placer para mí, saludarlos y compartir una parte de mi experiencia como madre, así como también disfruto leyendo la de ustedes.

This was a great day for both of us, what would be a tedious outing, turned into a fun morning, with the best company, my son, it was a great opportunity to distract us and spend quality time, while he got to know a different place, discovering new things that favor his growth. It is good to invite them whenever possible to our adult life, to know a little more about us and our occupations, this also strengthens our bonds and they feel loved and integrated.
