Let's go for a beer. Week168

If there is one drink that has been present in my life, it is beer. I remember those Christmases at my grandmother's house, where the uncles made sure to have a few cases to spend the holidays. Beer and Whiskey, there was no shortage of them. At that time, I was a child and I wondered what was so special about this drink, because I honestly found its smell unpleasant.

It was when I was finishing high school, when I tried this drink for the first time, it felt quite pleasant, but I was never too daring to drink more than three. If we look at these photos, they have something in common and that is that there are always some bottles of beer and it became the official drink of our outings, except for a few times when it was replaced by a Rum called Cacique, which we almost always combined with Coca Cola.

Wow, there are many memories that come to my mind that involve beer, its effervescent and refreshing taste is the witness of many stories, laughter and meaningless conversations on weekend outings with my cousins, it was a very active time, we were college students, where going out every Friday for a few beers became the perfect plan.

What I like about beer is that it is a drink that I can savor and enjoy little by little, it quenches thirst and is also comforting, I like its flavor, especially a brand called Polar or Polarcita as we Venezuelans call it. This is the main brand in the country, I had a long time without trying it, until a couple of months ago I went out with my husband and we enjoyed a couple of them.

Another brand that I like a lot for its delicious taste is Smirnoff ICE maracuya flavor beer, this vodka based drink is a real delight, I do not have a picture of it, but it is certainly a drink that I would always choose, but its cost is higher than the others.

Lately in the supermarkets I have seen a great variety of brands of beers, which I have never tried, it is evident that I no longer go out as I used to, but I still keep my mind open to try them.

Beer is one of the most popular drinks in my country, it is present in most family festivities, in those Sundays of barbecues and grills, it is the perfect companion to watch a soccer or baseball game, it is present in birthdays, weddings, and it is still the perfect excuse to get together with good friends and disconnect a little from the routine. It is a delicious drink, but you know, no excesses.
