Tiana Clutch || Crochet Clutch Bag
Crocheting and getting to recreate designs or even bring the ones I sketched to life is something that always brings me joy, I had my eye on this clutch bag so much that my friend tagged me obsessed. I had the same reaction for every video, I’d scream and share the video with her every single time.
I finally got the opportunity to recreate this and not so it just sits on my shelves but for actual use, Uyo fashion week 2026 was coming up and I needed something that screams me, my fashion, what I love, the style, even the simplicity and structure of my designs.
Up until January this year I was still everywhere and nowhere when it came to choosing the kind of fashion I actually liked.
This year is a dress, next it’s streetwear and then cozy attire, nothing felt like me and for a designer that comes with frustration sometimes. I didn’t want to design because I had to. I wanted to wear outfits that felt like home and this bag was perfect for the outfit.
It was my first time working with tshirt yarn so I was honestly trading dangerous waters here, totally out of my comfort zone as a dressmaker but I was determined to make this work and that’s just what I did.
I had to use a tutorial to guide me and then the fight began, tshirt yarn wasn’t like my regular acrylic. My hands felt it and I sure did too, my hands were hurting and I held my hook like a spanner trying to get a knot out. It was funny, exhausting and honestly strange but it made the result feel earned.
I thought I’d just go with the flow and do this without lining it but boy was I wrong, it had big holes and my tiny accessories or even my keys may stick out so I had to line it…with my hands😭😭😭😭
I hand sew the lining because what machine was about to fit rows of tshirt yarn? My hands turned more red I took a book because I’m just a girl but the show must go on so I went to work and completed the lining.
The last part was the clutch and I was so scared, “what if it doesn’t come out right?” I thought to myself, “what if I ruin it just now at the end?” Thank God I did not and I got this beautiful piece for my dress.
It was a lot, it was a little messy, my work station looked like a beautiful mess, exhausted my wipes on my hands so I won’t stain it, my wrists were in so much stress everything just felt different from what I was used to. One might think this made me hate it but honestly I loved it even more like I made this clutch with string and hook! My hands created this!
I went straight to design a new bag because this is my new obsession, making comfortable bags that represent the wearer, I can’t wait to show you how I paired it but for now bear with me and enjoy the beautiful imagery.

3.5mm crochet hook
Stitch markers

I love your bag. I'm not very skilled at knitting, but the times I've had to make one, that material has been much easier for me to work with. In Argentina, we call it totora; I don't know why, but that's what it's known as. It's a great idea to add a lining to that type of knitting because sometimes they end up feeling huge and hollow.
Honestly it’s a great add with the lining, that’s a cute name for it actually it’s plain t shirt yarn here yours has more personality, I think it was hard since it was my first try subsequently it felt easier.
I had never made a chain before when I knitted it, so it was easier to understand with such a large piece of material. I feel like the yarn doesn't slide easily, but it's a good material for upcycling projects. It's on my list of projects; I'm sure with a few pieces you'll be able to master it and make really cute things.
