A quiet chilly walk on the sea and the call of the eider and the loon

We've had a mixed bag of weather, which is par for the course here in coastal New England. As I hear others speak of 'odd weather' I just smile as one day of freeze followed by a balmy 50 is the norm here in my bit of sea side New England.

On a day like this video capture it was that crisp cold I love. It is especially magical if it has followed a few days of 40F weather with rain and grey skys. The air feels sharp and the crunch underfoot of grass, boardwalk or sand almost has a similar sound.

It also feels as if sound carries further on such days and I was happy to come upon some of my favourite sea ducks, eiders (yes that from which were made eider downs) and their funny call. Some call it sarcastic.

I love how the gentleman eider are always in evening dress in their white tie and black coat, The female is a bit more sensible, rather like a sensible unmarried aunt forever in her tweeds in the countryside.

The loon, of course, is one of my favourite calls and tho it often accompanies our foggy mornings, on a bright crisp cold day, I can catch it's plaintive toon as it sings out and its song carries across the harbour into all nooks and crannies of nature. I've been on my woodland bit of my walk, deep into the saltmarshes, and hear it's call or simply on the shore early morning and it'll break through the mist, just above the gulls cry.

I hope you enjoy this little moment of slipping into a cold walk on Cape Cod and as always remember to get out and enjoy nature.

I've always love cooler temps, my ideal is 50-60 F so Spring and Autumn are my favourite, but my days I don't love too mare are Hot August days, then I'm good for nothing but just laying in the sea keeping cool, haha I think I'm just a creature of the cold. @tattoodjay

Yeah 50 to 60F I enjoy walking in, but the heat of summer doesn't bother me, but when it gets below freezing I really feel it these days, well ever since I had TB back in 2007 I think that's when I started to really find it harder to get out in the cold,
that said I went out this morning it was about 37F but I was wrapped up and enjoyed my walk.

But i may have to brave the cold this Saturday my new camera arrives tomorrow and I know after i set it all up I will want to take it out and test it, Saturdays high is 35 I believe but after tomorrows snow some winter shots and testing out the new camera may be in order :)
