Another day another vlog another drawing and onwards marches #inktober

Here we are day 10 and I'm still at it. Of course 10 isn't 31, but I'm hoping to get through. I have done all 31 days in the past and there is a satisfaction to finishing out something like this.

This year, however, I've added colour and also added more vlogs. I'm not certain the daily youtube vlogs will continue, but I've given myself the task of 7 days in a row, so I have to at least see that out.

Besides my drawing my vlog was a simple short moment of what I got up to today in the garden. This time of year, when it's still quite warm (it was 70's F today and sunny on the sea shore) I like to start gathering up my indoor plants I plant outside for the Summer and also any annuals I want to bring in for houseplants.

I really love coleus and it makes a pretty good houseplant. I have two varieties, one dark , that I always bring in, the other, the first on the left, is new for me this year. I have LOVED the colour this Summer and coleus is so easy to propagate that I'll bring this in for summer colour all Winter long and as I snip it to keep it from getting leggy, the snipped bits will go into water then soil and come Spring, I can plant an entire bed of the stuff...that is the plan anyway.

I have many more such plants I'll be gathering over this week whilst the weather remains quite warm. Our first frost is usually not until the end of the month, but best to be prepared.

I also used the day to gather up some of our now ripe apples. I've only a few trees, about 8 or so, in this little fruit cage I built. You can see it is sea facing, but it has a good wooden solid wall behind it that catches the sun all summer and even now, so it holds the heat and gives a nice biome for ripening fruit. I have a peach and also raspberries and strawberries and blueberries in here.

You might be wondering why the chicken wire AND the extra white netting...we have deer, rabbit, squirrel you name it and it ALL wants my food. However, this kept them ALL out except the little chipmunks who had most of my strawberries. Next year I'll be updating the animal proofing.

I am pretty happy with this apple variety in particular which is called "Liberty"

I'd not heard of the variety before but last Spring , when on a tree shopping spree, this particular tree just called out to me, it was well formed, had good branching and just looked a good sturdy tree. It has turned out to be not only my favourite for taste and storage but really prolific and Never blemish nor do insects seem to bother it, despite it being planted VERY close to the other trees in this small fruit cage. I do not spray or use any pesticides either.

I DO let the wild flowers grow up in the cage tho, as I always feel give the insects OTHER things to eat and they'll leave some of your food crops alone.

I also made time to do today's Ink , which I'll actually share tomorrow, as the ink I am sharing today is previous day as that is the version I can manage to put in my daily video.

You can see I'm sticking with my own theme of seaside influence and tea. I've done the #inktober prompts in the past, one year I did witches and familiars and just drew them in conjunction with the prompts. I'm rather liking my unified theme thus far (Tho I do have a couple that are minus the Tea, but that's because my theme was born a few drawings in)

We have today a lovely witchy kind of gal out for tea on the seashore. Despite her having a bit of magic to get the tea to the beach, she has decided that a Seal footman is a much more civilized way to go about it.

I hope you like my drawing and if you'd like to see a bit of my day, by all means enjoy my little video here:
