The exuberance of pinks and blues on a chilly Spring morning

I Never tire of our view and especially our sunrise and sunsets. As a lover of pinks and blues (possibly from my own over indulgence of sunrise and sunsets?) some evenings they never dissapoint.

The colour is at first shot with the bright dying yellow and orange of the last rays of the sun over the treeline.

Then as it begins to dip lower the cooler blues and purples seep into the harbor, like spilled ink into water.

Yes the sunrise and sunsets are often plays in blues and pinks.

Now that Spring has well and truly sprung the yellow's abound in the daffs

A Bright afternoon in early April can belie the chilly sea air when when dips low, amongst these early flowers, and feel the 'warmth' of their yellow and golds play with the shocking blue of the sea behind.

They nod their heads in the cool April breeze and in their shadow the first green sprouts of lawn begin to grow.

They seem to tempt the barren brown branches of the old hydrangea, whispering "Summer shall come".

Yes, when I'm not able to go too far afield for a #Wednesdaywalk the joy of poking about the garden can be walk enough for me.

Even before heading out the door, to the daffs and the sunrise and sunsets, this time of year I can 'walk' in my plant room and see the promises of Summer in the Spring growth in yellows and little fruits.

Cucumber sandwiches await lashings of butter for Summer teatimes. There is a lot of hope in these tiny little cucumber buds.

Newly planted lettuce in the Spring Veg beds.

We again don't have to walk too far to see more vibrant colors of Spring. Simply turn around , by the little garden gate, into the new veg begs behind the old picket fence, now that will #makemesmile all the neat rows of freshly planted lettuce.

The love the cool Spring air and chilly nights but the lettuce will live here until Summer then it's brethren will be planted in the small orchard and soft fruit garden, safe from hot summer sun under tiny dwarf fruit trees and branched high bush blueberries.

Even the veg, here, will sometimes take part in a #wednesdaywalk going from one garden to the other.

Lettuce in the new beds before the gravel paths have been made, more Spring work to come in between Wednesdaywalks.

One cannot walk through the colors of Spring without the tones of Hellebores. This is one of my favorite. I'd tell you the name, but the tag I wrote at it's base has long since washed away, tho I'm sure it's scribbled in one of the margins of my garden books.

Mauve tones shot with chartreuse play against the old wood siding by the kitchen garden.

And the bold green of the fresh shoots of the hosta are pushing through the newly mulched bed. Behind the Garish open-leafed hosta acts arrogant with it's fellow cinnamon fern, tho they've both got their growth and arrogant color from being started in my plant room in January.

Their delicate leaves will return indoors , leaving our strong young shoots of the new hosta to take on the cold chilly April nights.

Baby pink blooms with the promise of fuschia centers begin to hearld the New Spring.
With just the touch of shocking peapod yellow-green of the new leaves coming out, the Magnolia is another Spring color I love to see and walk through on these garden walks.

They rather mimic the pinks of the sunrise and sunsets, where we started this walk, and we can end with yet another bold daffofil,

Cool white narcissus with golden centers bob before the Spring sea.

These darling white daffs seem to add a bit of sunshine to the darkening cloudy sky. New England weather is often varied and one can feel all four seasons in a day, that is never more true than in Spring.

A #wednesdaywalk might start with the memory of the brillant pinks of the previous nights sunset, even a bit warm, promising Summer, only to have the afternoon the next day give that cloud of Winter after just cherishing the sun upon the new snowpea shoots in the veg garden.

20180506_091522.jpg

The colors of Spring can be varied but Fresh green, bold yellows, and Sunset pinks abound. And I hope you enjoyed this rather 'stay in the garden' sort of #Wednesdaywalk and I hope it did indeed make you smile as it did #Makemesmile .

I hope you'll join in our Wednesdays in the future and as always find a moment in your day to indulge in your passions and when out walking , why not catalog the walk in colors, it can be such fun.
