Enjoy the beauty of the ripe rice season

April usually brings warm sunshine and nice weather to my place. And this is also the season of ripe rice. It's time to go out and enjoy its beauty. Since ancient times, rice has been the main food in Vietnamese meals and we are proud to be the second largest rice exporter in the world. For us, rice has not only material value but also great cultural value.

For generations, Vietnamese people have grown up in rice fields. During wartime, rice was the main source of food to help the Vietnamese defeat foreign invaders and unify the country. In peacetime, rice still plays an extremely important role in Vietnamese meals. Therefore, rice has become the main subject in countless works of art. My childhood was also associated with rice fields. The image of the buffalo, the stork and the afternoons hanging out with friends in the rice fields is still imprinted in my mind.

Currently, I live in a big city where there are no rice fields. However, in the ripe rice seasons, I always arrange a time to go to the nearest rice growing area to enjoy its beauty. There is nothing more wonderful than walking among the golden rice fields and enjoying its passionate aroma. Maybe you've eaten rice and smelled it when it's cooked. But you should definitely try its aroma when it's freshly ripe. Newly ripened rice gives off a characteristic aroma that is strong and cannot be confused with any other fragrance. The yellow color of the ripe rice fields also adds to the beauty of the surrounding area. Usually rice will be grown in large and flat areas, so in the ripe rice seasons, you will see a large area like wearing a golden shirt. In particular, in the afternoons, the yellow color of ripe rice becomes more vivid. The area I visit today is a large plain nestled between the mountains of Hoa Bac and has the poetic Cu De river flowing through. The Cu De river is like a lifeline, bringing vitality and accreting alluvium to this entire area. Its green color further enhances the beauty of the surrounding golden rice fields.
