Hello, friends! I hope you are having a wonderful day. This time, I want to join the veggie shopping challenge to participate in the new 25th week of my veggie shopping challenge, it's all about buying only beets! I am excited about the idea of having beets in my fridge to add flavor and nutrition to my favorite drinks and dishes, I love this vegetable and of course I bought them to participate in this new challenge.

¡Hola, amigos! Espero que estén teniendo un día maravilloso. En esta ocasión, quiero unirme al reto de compra de verduras para participar en el nuevo reto de la semana N.º. 25 de mi compra vegetal, se trata de ¡comprar solo remolachas! Me emociona la idea de tener remolachas en mi nevera para agregar sabor y nutrición a mis bebidas y platos favoritos, me encanta esta hortaliza y por supuesto las compré para participar en este nuevo reto.

Last Sunday, I went to the farmer's market, since this is when there is more activity and vendors arrive with truckloads of fresh vegetables and fruits from Colonia Tovar to supply the population of La Victoria and its surroundings. After getting up and preparing my breakfast, I went out to do my usual shopping. Looking for the coloneros trucks I found the beets very beautiful and with splendid leaves and I remembered the vegan challenge I had proposed to participate in and at once I picked them and brought them home.

El pasado día domingo, me dirigí al mercado campesino, ya que es cuando hay más actividad y los vendedores llegan con camiones cargados de verduras y frutas frescas desde la colonia Tovar para abastecer a la población de la Victoria y sus alrededores. Después de levantarme y preparar mi desayuno, salí a hacer mis compras habituales. Buscando los camiones coloneros encontré las remolachas muy bonitas y con unas hojas esplendorosas y recordé el desafío vegano al que me había propuesto participar y de una vez las escogí y me las traje a casa.

My tips for the purchase and preservation of BEETS//Mis consejos para la compra y conservación de REMOLACHAS:

• Buy//Comprar:

When I buy beets I detect their freshness and quality in this way: I look for and make sure to choose beets with smooth and firm skin. I check for a deep red color, avoiding those that look discolored, soft or wrinkled. I always look for them to be small to medium in size. I also make sure that their aroma has a pleasant scent.

Cuando compro remolachas detecto su frescura y calidad de esta manera: me fijo y aseguro de elegir que su piel sea lisa y firme al tacto, Compruebo que tenga un color rojo intenso, evitando las que parezcan descoloridas o blandas o arrugadas. Siempre busco que tengan un tamaño pequeño o medianas. También me aseguro de que su aroma sea con un olor agradable.

• Preservation//Conservación:

To ensure the freshness of beets //Para asegurar la frescura de las remolachas:

I remove the leaves if I have it.
I store in the refrigerator.
I avoid humidity, wash and dry the beets in the refrigerator.

*Retiro las hojas de tenerla.
*Almaceno en el refrigerador.
*Evito humedad, lavo y llevo secas las remolachas a la nevera.

• I was able to buy a string of three beets, that's the only way they were selling it.

Pude comprar un ramal de tres remolachas, solo así la estaban vendiendo.

-I cancelled:

The 3 portions of beets with plenty of leaves was 40 Bs. It weighed 150 grams and in dollars was 0.90 $.

Cancelé:

El ramal de 3 porciones de remolachas con bastantes hojas estaba en 40 Bs. Pesó 150 gramos y en dólares fueron 0,90 $.*

Cancelé en efectivo se había ido la luz y no tenían punto, les entregue 1$ y la diferencia en bolívares.

Upon returning home that day it felt very hot and the leaves arrived a little wilted, I took the time to sterilize the leaves and beets with water and vinegar, wash them and let them dry and then store them in the refrigerator for later use.

Al regresar a casa ese día se sentía mucho calor y las hojas llegaron un poco marchitas, dediqué tiempo para esterilizar con agua y vinagre las hojas, las remolachas, las lave y dejé que se secaran para luego guardar en la nevera y posteriormente utilizar.
