When these events happen you have to take advantage of the opportunity, it's good that you had the camera on hand to capture the passage of these birds, I think you got great shots here :)

I've learned the hard way, where I see some awesome birds but don't have my camera... now I bring it anywhere
This happened to me many times until I decided to keep my camera in my backpack.
Its just too bad zoom lenses are so heavy.
