(And without mods) You have to be pretty crazy to make such a combination, right. In this post I will show you a game that I loved from the first time I saw it thanks to its graphic style and how random it can be, that's right I'm talking about Death Road to Canada, the craziest indie game about zombies, without more to say, let's start with the post!

WHAT IS DEATH ROAD TO CANADA?
Death Road to Canada is a video game in which you have to escape from the United States, since it is infested with zombies, to do this, you recruit a friend and together they recruit more people (or not) to reach Canada, the only safe place without zombies.
This game is inspired by the movies where you have to escape from an apocalypse to get to a safe place (be it shelter, country, bunker and more) and for this the survivors have to distribute food, expel members, fight between them and many more complications just to get there and be safe.
The same applies here in the game, you will have to go through many points and infested places to collect resources and finally reach Canada, the country without zombies inside, you can trade, improve your characters and more.
Now, let's move on to one of the most relevant features of this game, the decisions.
DECISIONS AND THE COOPERATIVE FACTOR
In the game there are decisions, options that you have to choose to continue on your journey, these decisions usually appear on the road while you are with your companions or when they are resting and eating.
In these decisions you have to choose 1 of 4 options that appear (normally), among these options are the following topics: Where are we going? Who do we send? How will we share the food? Who do we kick? Who do we SACRIFICE? Fix that car? Who do we train? of themes in which you have to choose objects, people and resources to be able to survive, these options are fundamental and ONE MISTAKE that you make by clicking on any of the options and the whole game goes to hell (and since this is a roguelike, you would have to start over)
The game is made to play with more people locally, this for better coordination and knowing what things to choose and more, in addition to character customizations, which I will talk about now.
THE CHARACTERS, THEIR PERSONALIZATION AND ATTITUDES
Let's move on to one of the coolest sections of this game, customization.
Character customization is a section that if you know how to use it, you can take advantage of it very well due to the great active and passive skills that there are to choose from.
Here you can choose the appearance of your character, its abilities, disadvantages and advantages, this to have a character that is tailored to your needs and so that you start knowing how to play and how your character acts, because yes, here there is mood and personality .
Every time you make a decision that affects your character (in a good or bad way) it alters their state of mind, this greatly influences the game, since depending on the mood and attitude the decisions can go well or badly, a example would be "make some bombs" your character would be very good for firearms and mechanics, but if he is angry or sad he may do poorly and get killed or injured.
Also, when you are collecting resources at one point, your character may be very weak due to these mood swings.
In this game there are also quite OP skills that you can use, but that you can NOT put on your custom characters, this is because they are carried by characters that are very... quirky, so to speak.
BIG CHUNGUS, ANIME SWORDS, SANTA CLAUS!
In this game there are the companions, those people you meet on your way to Canada, they are usually random characters with common abilities that could either help you or make the trip impossible depending on where you see them.
However, there are other types of characters that are not very concurrent in the normal mode of the game, these characters that have OP abilities, but that bring a great disadvantage with them, that is, the special characters.
These characters are references to pop culture normally, since their abilities are related to what they are honoring, be it a meme, popular character, anime and more strange things.
These characters bring UNIQUE abilities that cannot be introduced in an ordinary or custom character, this makes them "special" as their abilities range from an infinite chainsaw to a giant big chungus.
However, it's not all good, as his abilities bring disadvantages with them; An example is the character that refers to Jason, since he is a fairly strong character, but as the days go by little by little the members disappear until you are left with him alone (so if you see him, prepare to the massacre).
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE GAME
Now let's move on to the advantages and disadvantages of the game.
Advantages:
Cooperative gameplay: this is a game that you could enjoy with your friends without any problems, since also two people can play on one keyboard, which is pretty good for people who don't have a joystick and want to try a bit of the game together with their best friend.
Easy game to run in an old PC: this game can be run without a graphic card and with 2gb of RAM, it's that light, besides, you can put mods if you want (like me, I put a mod to play it in Spanish).
Freedom to decide what you want to do: as I said before, in this game you have the freedom to decide what to do (although of course, with a small drawback if you don't know what you're doing), do you want to stay in the forest? That's fine, but see how you cope with the bears; want to learn mechanics? Fine, but your character might get frustrated and end up quitting, thus wasting time; Want to go to the haunted house? That's fine, as long as you carry a flashlight.
Disadvantages:
No online multiplayer: one of the biggest disadvantages of this game is that it has no online multiplayer, you can't meet random people over the internet to play with them, something that is supposed to bring this kind of cooperative games, but it doesn't bring it. (you could play online with remote play together).
It is repetitive: Although it has a multitude of game modes, the game is repetitive, since there is only one ending, either you die or you finally reach Canada, I felt this when I finished the game with my friend, I thought.... "what now? ", you try to play any mode, but it is still the same, (unless you play it with other people, but as there is no online it will always have to be the same people again and again).
CONCLUSION - DO I RECOMMEND IT?
Now let's go with the million dollar question, do I recommend it? YES and NO, but hope this has an explanation.
Although it is true that with all the benefits that this game brings you will have a lot of fun, in the end after so many games played, you will get bored and at least you play it with other people (that in the end that is what is fun, the experience to play it with other friends)
So to have a good time it's not bad, only there are better options, if you really want to play with your friends (or alone) on Steam, then I recommend it if you have many friends and just want to have a good time with them, but if you are one of those people who do not have many friends and prefer to play alone, you may not like this game, although a taste would not be bad.

Pero dentro de todos estos géneros surgió uno que inesperadamente tomaría gran relevancia en este mundillo, uno que se inspira de las grandes películas y libros de ficción sobre los muertos vivientes, el género zombis.
Luego de un par de juegos de zombis, en la industria de los videojuegos se empezó a utilizar una fórmula que funciona bastante bien (que también funciona en libros, películas y series), la cual es el apocalipsis, armas y supervivientes, fácil de digerir y divertido de jugar, ¿cierto?
Pero... ¿Qué pasaría si mezclas: píxeles, zombis, armas locas, personalización, personajes de la cultura pop y Canadá junto a un motor de videojuegos? (Y sin mods) Hay que estar bien loco para hacer una combinación así, ¿cierto?. En este post te mostraré un juego que me encantó desde la primera vez que lo vi gracias a su estilo gráfico y lo aleatorio que puede ser, así es hablo de Death Road to Canada, el juego indie más loco sobre zombis, ¡sin más que decir, empecemos con el post!

¿QUÉ ES DEATH ROAD TO CANADA?
Death Road to Canadá es un videojuego en el que tienes que escapar de estados unidos, ya que está infestado de zombis, para ello, reclutas a un amigo y juntos van reclutando más personas (o no) para llegar a Canadá, el único lugar seguro sin zombis.
Este juego se inspira en las películas en donde tienes que escapar de un apocalipsis para llegar a un sitio seguro (sea refugio, país, búnker y más) y que para ello los sobrevivientes tienen que repartir la comida, expulsar miembros, peleas entre ellos y muchas complicaciones más solo para llegar y estar a salvos.
Aquí en el juego se aplica lo mismo, tendrás que pasar por muchos puntos y sitios infestados para recolectar recursos y así finalmente llegar a Canadá, el país sin zombis en su interior, puedes comerciar, mejorar a tus personajes y más.
Ahora, pasemos a una de las características más relevantes de este juego, las decisiones.
LAS DECISIONES Y EL FACTOR COOPERATIVO
En el juego existen las decisiones, opciones que tienes que elegir para seguir en tu recorrido, estas decisiones normalmente aparecen en la carretera mientras estás con tus compañeros o cuando están descansando y comiendo.
En estas decisiones tienes que elegir 1 de 4 opciones que te aparecen (normalmente), entre estas opciones están los siguientes temas: ¿A qué punto vamos?, ¿A quién mandamos?, ¿Cómo nos repartiremos la comida?, ¿A quién botamos?, ¿A quién SACRIFICAMOS?, ¿Arreglamos ese auto?, ¿A quién entrenamos?, ¿Quién se quedará vigilando? Y un gran etc. de temas en las cuales tienes que elegir objetos, personas y recursos para poder sobrevivir, estas opciones son fundamentales y UN ERROR que cometas haciendo clic en alguna de las opciones y toda la partida se va al garete (y como esto es un roguelike, tendrías que empezar de nuevo)
El juego está hecho para jugar con más personas localmente, esto para mejor coordinación y saber que cosas elegir y más, además de las personalizaciones de personajes, de lo cual hablaré ahora.
LOS PERSONAJES, SU PERSONALIZACIÓN Y ACTITUDES
Pasemos a uno de los apartados más frescos de este juego, la personalización.
La personalización de personajes es un apartado el cual si lo sabes usar puedes aprovechar muy bien debido a las grandes habilidades activas y pasivas que hay por elegir.
Aquí puedes elegir el aspecto de tu personaje, sus habilidades, desventajas y ventajas, esto para tener un personaje que esté hecho a tu medida y para que empieces sabiendo como jugar y como actúa tu personaje, porque sí, aquí existe el ánimo y la personalidad.
Cada vez que haces una decisión que afecte a tu personaje (de buena o mala manera) altera su estado de ánimo, esto influye mucho en la partida, ya que dependiendo del ánimo y la actitud las decisiones pueden ir bien o mal, un ejemplo sería "hacer unas bombas" tu personaje sería muy bueno para las armas de fuego y la mecánica, pero si está enojado o triste puede que lo haga mal y salga muerto o herido.
Además, cuando estás recolectando recursos en un punto, puede que tu personaje sea muy débil debido a estas alteraciones de ánimo.
En este juego también existen habilidades bastante OP que puedes utilizar, pero que NO puedes poner en tus personajes personalizados, esto debido a que las portan personajes que son muy... Peculiares, por así decirlo.
¡BIG CHUNGUS, ESPADAS DE ANIME, SANTA CLAUS!
En este juego están los acompañantes, esas personas que encuentras en tu camino a Canadá, normalmente son personajes aleatorios con habilidades comunes que bien podrían ayudarte o hacerte el viaje imposible dependiendo de donde lo veas.
Sin embargo, existen otro tipo de personajes que no son muy concurrentes en el modo normal del juego, estos personajes que tienen habilidades OP, pero que traen una gran desventaja consigo, así es, los personajes especiales.
Estos personajes son referencias a la cultura pop normalmente, ya que sus habilidades son referentes a lo que están homenajeando, ya sea un meme, personaje popular, anime y más cosas extrañas.
Estos personajes traen habilidades ÚNICAS que no se pueden introducir en un personaje ordinario o personalizado, esto los hace "especiales" pues sus habilidades van desde una motosierra infinita hasta un big chungus gigante.
Sin embargo, no todo es bueno, ya que sus habilidades traen desventajas consigo; un ejemplo es el personaje que hace referencia a Jason, puesto que es un personaje bastante fuerte, pero con el pasar de los días poco a poco los integrantes van desapareciendo hasta que quedas tú con él solito (así que si lo ves, prepárate para la masacre).
VENTAJAS Y DESVENTAJAS DEL JUEGO
Ahora pasemos a las ventajas y desventajas del juego.
Ventajas:
Juego cooperativo: este es un juego que podrías disfrutar con tus amigos sin problemas, ya que también dos personas pueden jugar en un mismo teclado, lo cual está bastante bien para la gente que no tiene joystick y quiere probar un poco del juego junto a su mejor amigo.
Juego fácil de correr en una PC vieja: este juego puedes correrlo sin tarjeta gráfica y con 2gb de RAM, así de liviano es, además, puedes ponerle mods si quieres (como yo, que le puse un mod para jugarlo en español)
Libertad para decidir que quieres hacer: como ya dije anteriormente, en este juego tienes la libertad de decidir que hacer (aunque claro, con un pequeño inconveniente si no sabes que estás haciendo), ¿quieres quedarte en el bosque? Está bien, pero mira como te las arreglas con los osos; ¿Quieres aprender mecánica? Está bien, pero tu personaje puede que se fruste y lo termine dejando, así perdiendo tiempo; ¿Quieres ir a la casa embrujada? Está bien, siempre y cuando lleves una linterna.
Desventajas:
No tiene multiplayer online: una de las mayores desventajas de este juego es que no tiene multiplayer online, no puedes encontrarte con personas aleatorias por internet para jugar con ellas, algo que se supone que debería de traer este tipo de juegos cooperativos, pero no lo trae. (podrías jugar online con remote play together)
Es repetitivo: Si bien tiene una multitud de modos de juego, el juego por donde lo mires es repetitivo, ya que solo hay un final, o te mueres o finalmente llegas a Canadá, esto lo sentí cuando terminé el juego con mi amigo, pensé... "¿y ahora qué?", intentas jugar cualquier modo, pero sigue siendo lo mismo, (al menos que lo juegues con otras personas, pero como no hay online siempre tendrán que ser las mismas personas una y otra vez)
CONCLUSIÓN - ¿LO RECOMIENDO?
Ahora vayamos con la pregunta del millón, ¿lo recomiendo? SÍ y NO, pero espera que esto tiene una explicación.
Si bien es verdad que con todas las bondades que trae este juego te divertirás bastante, al final después de tantas partidas jugadas, te aburrirás y al menos que lo juegues con otras personas (que al final eso es lo que divierte, la experiencia de jugarlo con otros amigos)
Entonces para pasar un buen rato no está mal, solo que hay mejores opciones, si de verdad quieres jugar con tus amigos (o solo) en Steam, entonces te lo recomiendo si tienes bastantes amigos y solo quieres pasar un buen rato con ellos, pero si eres de esas personas que no tiene tantos amigos y prefiere jugar solo, este juego tal vez no te guste, aunque una probada no estaría mal.

Necesito jugar esto, además que si tuviera multiplayer sería perfecto, pero la vida no se trata de perfección sino de diversión y amor :)
Aún se podría jugar a multiplayer, pero localmente, más no en línea, espero que los desarrolladores pronto pongan esa función porque el juego estoy seguro de que tendría su boom.
Después de haber estado tantos días intentando hacerlo funcionar hubiese sido el colmo que el juego fuese malo lmao, en su momento lo probé y lo jugué muy poco, solo por tu post le voy a dar una segunda oportunidad y ver que tal, es de las pocas cosas que mi pc puede darse el lujo de correr sobrada haha.
