A Snowy Night Winner and Pizza Prizes

Last week was the first week we had an active contest in Scholar and Scribe offering Pizza Prizes for all entries as well as SBI sponsorship for the winner! I'm pleased to see several authors writing entries for our very First Contest!

The challenge was to continue the brief and mysterious plotline I started here. I really tried to leave a lot to the imagination of the authors that might enter and make it as open as possible. This is a creative writing community after all and I am hoping to see lots of creativity and interesting story's, poems, etc posted here. The best way to encourage that is to keep limits to a minimum and let writers do what they do best: WRITE.

This is why I wanted to provide PIZZA to every entry and make it more of a giveaway format. I think it is more encouraging to people to know that their work will be read and voted and rewarded even if they don't "win" it takes some of the pressure of competition off people and unlocks a bit more of that creativity and freedom to take risks as they write/create and that is what I want to see in this community...

@onewolfe continued on with our main character struggling through the snow and experiencing confused flashbacks and images to a terrible event that drove him out into the snow to escape the pain of his loss! The scene ends with our character lying in the snow hoping for peace...
A great piece, I was left sad and feeling the pain of our character!

@penyaircyber wrote a haunting piece that reads almost more like a freewrite. I dig it though- the freewrite format made it feel more like a stream of consciousness of our confused main character.
I felt the line between the story and reality blurred as I was asked to help. We even got some poetry and artwork thrown in for good measure!

@agreste... @agreste... you blew me away with this one. You kept the tone of my original piece but brought us deeper into the characters thoughts. You managed to convey the characters confusion and give us an extraordinary amount of detail at the same time. We are left wondering precisely what happened to our character and exactly who's blood is in the snow but we know enough to hook us.
It was haunting... I will be sending you the SBI sponsorship!
