For this month of July with the Dreemport Challenge and one of the first tasks is to talk about my Hive experience. Let me take you back in time and tell you of a moment that ultimately changed my life. I also hope that this story of mine serves as an inspiration to anyone who wants to get truly get to know Hive.

HIVE FOUND ME

Whenever I’m asked how I found Hive, I say that it found me. Because it really did. I was working a job of less than $30 monthly in 2021. Just my transportation and feeding ultimately took away my ability to save, and I am someone who is always on the look out for change despite saying the contrary.

Hive met me in the person of @belemo. I will forever be grateful to him because through him, my life changed for the better. He told me about this blockchain that was looking for talent like mine because I told him during one of our conversations that I write. As usual, I shied away because it all sounded complicated and felt like something way beyond me that I would fail at. This is something else I’m coming to. Hive taught me to believe in myself.

Belemo was persistent and very kind with his encouragement. And thus, I made my first post a week later.

FIGURING IT OUT…

One thing that Belemo did for me that I’m still grateful for to this day was that he let me figure Hive out on my own. He did not spoon feed me and with the way Hive is, a person would need a whole dose of will to actually stay.

The first week was confounding. Even though I got the reigns of making a post and did it daily, I was still confused with many terms and analogies I saw most authors use in their post especially in the old days when Leofinance was strictly finance.

But like I said, a whole dose of will. I read post that I barely understood and left comments I made up in my head because Hive, despite how complicated it looked was pretty entertaining and very stimulating. When last had I been stimulated to learn like that?

Soon, I was part of the Hive Naija Community and joined the live shows on telegram (now moved to discord) and met people who I got to know off-chain. I signed into the Newbies Initiative a little while after that and never looked back to say I regret joining Hive.

Then I made my first fictional post in the InkWell Community and my oh my! Do you know the adrenaline rush that comes from seeing praising and applauding comments? As a newbie, it was something I had never experienced off-chain. I may have written several short stories in my secondary and primary school days and got praised for it but nothing felt like receiving such accolades from total strangers. One thing I have learned is that one who doesn’t know you will tell you the truth.

I was encouraged and I was pumped. I began to peruse other communities such as Abundance Tribe, Eco Train and became really active in The Inkwell. In all this, I was learning as I go and developing systems that worked for me. Months (close to a year later) I learned about Dreemport.

Now, remember I said I would talk about how Hive made me a better person? No one who genuinely gets active on Hive ever remains the same. As a young girl, Hive has been so wonderful that I don’t have words. I have also been able to save more than I thought I would thanks to joining the SATURDAY SAVERS CLUB. I was even able to settle my life at home and school and still improve my ability to interact with this blockchain by getting me a better phone. After months of discipline from myself and encouragement from the people I care about and who care about me too. I will tell you with all sincerity that Hive has taught me (with the help of people of course) nothing is impossible.

THE HIVELY EXPERIENCE

Anyone who knew me back in 2020 would agree that I’m not the same person. That is partly thanks to Hive and mostly thanks to me because I let Hive in. I met wonderful people here who challenged me to be the utmost best and do nothing less. And I myself, understood that this is a learning experience. I still look forward to learning.

To those it may concern, there’s a lot to learn and become with Hive. I have tried and failed ultimately to onboard people because they only see the monetary benefits. Hive is more than just $2 worth of votes. It’s layers and foundations of strategies, plans, hard work and most of all Dreems.

You might be wondering why the “ee” when it is should be “ea”. I’ll tell you.

HIVE TAUGHT ME TO DREEM

I met the wonderful @dreemsteem on Hive and she’s been a blessing. @samsmith1971 has been nothing short too and I love this two with my whole heart. I will not forget my number one fan and supporter @tengolotodo who has a spirit younger than his age. I love him too! And then all Dreemport Ambassadors who have been so supportive and endearing too. It’s one huge world of positivity and joyful vibes.

HIVE TAUGHT ME TO LEED

Yeah. As a kid, I was always chosen one way or the other for important roles. Most I would run away from and the others I would reluctantly take on. But one thing is for sure, I was always the center of attention.

However, I have grown to take the back bench which is why I was equally surprised and delighted to see I still had it in me when I had to step up with my TEEM in one of the Dreemport Challenges. It was really scary to be honest being placed in the light like that but I took it. At the back of my mind, I just knew I couldn’t let anyone down.

Which is what has also happened in my life off-chain. I’ll go into details of that in another post but Hive has touched all areas of my life.

ARE YOU STILL EXPECTING ANYTHING FROM HIVE?

Yes! Of course I am. I look forward to constantly learning and becoming. I have surprised myself in many ways and I still want to do more. I expect a lot from Hive especially when it comes to onboarding of newbies. I expect to still learn even as I guide them and to become more than I am today.
