The Market At Baugher's Orchards and Farm

Today, I'll be showing you a few photos from my visit to the market at Baugher's Orchards and Farm. Baugher's is located at 1015 Baugher Road in Westminster, Maryland 21158.

Being October, there were plenty of pumpkins available at the market. They had an array of different varieties and sizes.

There were smaller gourds and small "Jack's" for just .99 cents. I really like the look of the small pumpkins with the dark green stripes on them.

They had so many beautiful flowers and Mums in an assortment of lovely colors!

Just look at the vibrant colors of Indian Corn!

Inside of the market there was a different kind of pumpkins and other knick-knack type items.

There were so many different kinds of pickles, relishes, jams, sauces, rubs and more!

One item that caught my husbands and mine attention was this Smoked Maple Syrup. We did think about buying a bottle but it was a little pricey but that wasn't the deciding factor in not purchasing it. We read the "uses" labeled on the bottle and no where on there does it mention waffles ... lol!

So! What did we buy? We bought two pies, some apricot tea ..

.. and a few apples. It is an Orchard after all! They had, at least, eight different varieties of apples.

Baugher's Ochards and Farm also has a small Petting Zoo on the property, a restaurant close by, Pick Your Own Fruits and more. I loved that I could see parts of the orchards from where we parked.

You know what else I loved?! That the Peach Crumb pie was as delicious as it looked. My husband cut into it before I could get a photo of it un-cut. Both of the pies were very good and we made a point to stop closer by home to get some vanilla ice cream to go with the pie. Don't worry! We didn't eat all of that pie ourselves and shared some with company. I even shared some of that apricot tea with my nephew who happened to stop by. He likes tea so I gave him some to take home and try it. I'm looking forward to my sisters visiting so they can try the apricot tea also. They done missed out on the pie though! 😁

Thanks for sharing yours and Hubby’s excursion to the orchard and farm. 💖 It’s that time of year again, with halloween right around the corner, to get some apples and pumpkins at the local orchards, Dee. I got some Pink Lady apples and made an apple crumble. Pies do taste much better with a dollop of vanilla ice cream :)

Thanks so much Jo!! I gotta make something soon with the few apples that I bought and apple crumble sounds perfect. I will make something tomorrow probably. Last year we had no trick or treaters and I suspect it may be the same this year. We still bought a few bags of candy just in case though. I just finished watching the final season of Good Witch with Catherine Bell. I really enjoyed watching it. Wishing you a beautiful week!! 💞

Well Jo, I have never seen such colourful corn, Indian Corn you said? When I see white on my yellow corn it is definitely off. Does this corn taste the same as yellow corn?
Smoke maple syrup must have a sweet flavour for savoury dishes - right?
An interesting #marketFriday post thank you Jo, the pies with ice-cream sounded delightfully yummy. 🧡

Thanks so much Angie!! I don't know if Indian Corn is edible as I've only seen it used for decoration. We have white corn, yellow corn and sometimes yellow and white corn together for eating. 😉
I would imagine that the smoked maple syrup would add a sweetness to savory dishes but it was expensive. The pie was very good and even more so with the ice cream. 😋

That is such a nice orchard! I sure had a good time apple picking this year. The apples were delicious (as were the peaches and blueberries) I think it was a good year all the way around for fruit. The only thing I can complain about is my birds did a little damage to the fruit on the peach trees~!! They got hungry before I could pick them.

The pumpkins!!! I would have to say that there were tons of them! I love the gourd-looking pumpkins with the green lumps on them. :) They really are pumpkins but really remind me of gourds! We have so many of these wonderful nurseries around the Washington DC Metro area, don't we? I never tire of seeing them and they never tire of changing up the displays!

You have done a wonderful job of bringing the season to us here at #MarketFriday and I want to thank you for it! As for the pie? I would have to say, yum! yum! I wanted to tell you that I buy that tea at Harris Teeter, in case you didn't already know. There are a few other places that carry it. (Maybe it is cheaper there! Wouldn't that be funny?) Thank you so much, Dee!! @deerjay You are the best!

#MarketFriday has evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? These are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
  5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  6. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
  7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
  8. Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Thank you very much Denise!! It was lovely to see the orchard just on the other side of the market and the trees were just laden with apples! I've picked blueberries and strawberries at orchards and maybe apples once a very long time ago. 🙂
We do have quite a few. My husband and I went driving around yesterday but it seems two that we went to visit have closed or at least closed their markets. I can't imagine they aren't still harvesting the apples but are probably selling to large supermarkets. I love the warty looking pumpkins too but I pretty much love all of them..lol. 😊
Thanks for the Harris Teeter tip! I only know of one in the area here but I've never been to it. I kept looking at the tea online but when I saw it here I just had to treat myself. To that and the pie of course! 😉💕
