Some Beer (Ale-Stout) Can Art at Lighthouse Canton

Hi All! Today, I'll be showing off some can art of a few different beers, ales and stouts that my husband and purchased back in July. I waited this long to post about it because I kept getting a little overwhelmed with how to present my visit to you without adding a gazillion photos. One thing that I was sure of was that I definitely admired the artwork on many of the cans so that is where I will start. Since I did try all of the products shown then I'll also give my (very short) opinion of the product as well.

We purchased all of the cans, either by itself or in a pack from Lighthouse Canton, Wine, Beer & Spirits which is located at 2701 Lighthouse Point in Baltimore, Maryland 21224. They have so many cold cases filled with a great selection of craft beers and many you can purchase by the can to try before purchasing a four pack or more. They also have some on tap but we weren't planning on staying so we bought either a single or four to six pack.

As you can probably tell, it is easy to get overwhelmed by such a selection unless you were going in for a specific item. We went for that reason but since they were sold out of that item we purchased a few different brews to try. My husband did return for the item we went for at a later date since his friend lives very close to this store.

The first can that we picked out was Raspberry Whale Cake which is a cream ale. It is brewed by Burlington Beer Co. in Burlington, Vermont. A friend of mine asked to have the can once we were finished with it and it is a nice design on the can. The ale was nice too with a mellow raspberry taste.

Our next pick was Hazelnut Brown Nectar which is a brown ale. It is brewed by Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon. The artwork didn't catch my eye as much as the word Hazelnut did. It was a pleasant surprise and I'm glad we decided to try it. The ale was smooth and the hint of hazelnut was perfect.

Strawberry Cannibal is a sour wheat beer also known as a Berliner Weisse. It is brewed by Other Half Brewing Co which was founded in New York. I love the art on the can and the beer itself was very good. I have to say that after trying a few of these different brews that I may be a bit more of a fan of the "sours".

Southern Belle is a Brown Ale that is brewed with pecans. It is brewed by 3 Stars Brewing Company in Washington, DC. I did read about this one and was very interested in trying it as it was brewed with pecans. This one was the biggest disappointment though. Sorry, if you've tried this and liked it! I did not! To me, it tasted quite bitter and there was not even a hint of nuttiness to it. Unfortunately, this was one that wasn't available as a single to try. I told my husband that he was welcome to have the remainder but he also didn't care for it. They are still sitting in the fridge and I will most likely offer the rest to my Nephew.

Berry Gelato is another sour ale by Black Flag Brewing Company in Columbia, Maryland. I liked it and I think the tart fruitiness of the "sours" makes them perfect for a Summer day.

Below are two stouts which are dark and strong. On the left is Ossuary which is brewed by Adroit Theory Brewing Co. in Purcellville, Virginia. I'm not the biggest fan of stout but I did give it a try. Just look at the artwork on that can! That was almost enough to scare me outta' trying it .. just kidding! It was definitely a stout though, bold and full-bodied! It did have a bitterness but nothing that I wouldn't expect from a stout. To the right is Even More Jesus which is brewed by Evil Twin Brewing in New York. I preferred this stout just a bit more but I wouldn't really purchase either one again. If I'm going for a stout than I would probably go for a Guinness .. and with a shot of Bailey's! 😉

The following are two items that my husband picked up on a different visit. Lol.. the first is a stout by Evil Twin. I know, I know what I just said but this one is Raspberry Jelly Donut Even More Jesus! We've had this one before and like it. This was the one that we originally visited the store for. It is a perfect blend of the stout with the raspberry and it really is reminiscent of a raspberry jelly donut.

That was one of my favorites! That is, until I tried another IPA by Evil Twin. That is the Blue Raspberry and although it is considered an IPA (India Pale Ale) it does have a tart sourness to it but it is the most pleasant and balanced which made it my favorite. It is one that I would purchase again and again and keep it in the fridge. More so in the Summer since if and when I drink beer it is usually in the warmer months. I think my husband prefers the Raspberry Jelly Donut still but that works out for us. He can have that and I'll stick with the Blue Raspberry! 😋
