Hey lovelies ❀️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog πŸ€—

I have been very busy at work for some weeks that I barely have time for myself and this affected my cooking and eating routine. I have a routine of cooking my soups in large quantities and storing them in small containers that can be easily stored in the refrigerator. It makes eating easy for me as I do not have to stress myself too much when I return from work. All I need to do is to decide what I want to eat, heat the soup and prepare something to accompany it.

I had to close early from work today to go to the market to do some minor shopping especially for soup and stew. For about five days I have run out of soup and I had to result to eating junks, noodles, bread and concoction rice. Sometimes, it is very difficult to think of what to eat. In Nigeria, most of our foods are always eaten with soups, especially dinner, so it can be a daunting task to think of what to "mix" together in the absence of soups.

The sun was still very much out as at the time I got to the market so I had to do all my shopping as fast as I could. Currently, in Nigeria we are in the Harmattan season, with cold weather during the early hours of the day and late in the evening, while it is always hot during the day with the sun always at its peak. I really hate shopping when it's extremely sunny, but today I do not have a choice, all I could do is to do everything I needed to do fast.

I made a short shopping list of the items I'm going to be buying for my soup and stew that will last me for a couple of weeks. So, I bought ingredients to make ogbono soup with ogbono seeds the major ingredients and seasonings such as ogiri (I don't know what it is called in English, it's a local seasoning that will get you licking your lips). I grinded my ogbono seeds with crayfish to make it easy for the ogbono to come out of the blender. There is a hand blender that is used for grinding it and it may not come out well if the crayfish isn't added.

Also, I got some ugu leaves, a kind of vegetable that is best used for cooking ogbono soup. I also tried to get some okra, but I didn't get a fresh one, so I will be preparing my soup without okra. There is a special kind of taste that okra gives a pot of ogbono soup that makes it mind blowing. They are both from the "draw soup family", that is, soups that have a slimy texture.

I will wake up as early as possible tomorrow morning to cook them before going to work. Hopefully, I will not be too tired before going to work.
