The consequences of a lie no matter how minimal is always serious. Lie has become a norm nowadays to the extent that a lot of us have it at our fingertips at any given time. We are always equipped with the right lie when the need arises. Lying isn't only limited to adult in our present day, even kids have started mastering the art of telling lies. Too bad!

Lying can be expensive and it can cost you a whole lot if you do not desist from it. There are some lies that can cost you money, time, peace of mind, people and even your life in the worst case. We often use lie to escape from a situation when we don't want the truth to be revealed but one thing about the truth is that it will prevail no matter how long it takes - days, weeks, months or years.

There are uncountable relationships that have broken all around the world just because of a single lie. The Yorùbá people have an adage that says that "iso kekere lo ma n ba idi je", which literally translates to mean "it only takes a little amount of fart to soil the buttocks". There are people in relationship who lie about either their background, sex life, age, health status, Marital status and so on in a bid to win the heart of their partner with the hope that the truth will not be revealed. After some time the other person will get to know the truth and that may signify the end of the union.

There is a story of a young beautiful woman who was planning to get married to a promising young man who unfortunately lost his job and all his investments within a short period of time. This means that the marriage has to be on hold and he was also unable to pay rent. Meanwhile, the young lady have a sugar daddy who she introduced to the fiance as her uncle. Along the line, it got so bad that the man could not renew his rent and his belongings were thrown out. The lady had to plead with her in "uncle" to give them a room to stay in his mansion which the fiance didn't feel too cool with at first but he didn't have any other option at that time than to agree.

After living under the same roof with the supposed uncle for some months, the young man later discovered the unspeakable activities that go on between his fiancée and the "uncle". He was shocked when she confessed that the man was not her uncle but she only allowed them to come stay with him so that it will be easy for her to carry out her activities without suspicion. This revelation broke the young man and that was apparently the end of that relationship. The young lady felt she could play the two men together and still have a good life at the end of the day but it was not possible. The sugar daddy was aware of her intentions and they both planned it but the fiance wasn't in the know.

No matter how long or serious a relationship is it will break if there are any iota of lie. The consequences of a lie can be disastrous. This is the more reason couples are urged to be sincere in their dealings with their partner. Let your partner have the real fact about your background, educational status, health status, financial status, and so on. Come out straight and clean. Do not hide anything no matter how minute it is.
