Halloween short horror: Trick or Treat

image.png
Given HiveBuzz's ongoing Halloween badge, I decided to take a shot at writing a short Halloween/horror story.

I haven't really written anything like this in years, so if you have any constructive criticism feel free to comment.

You find yourself exhausted after a long Halloween night, and - just as you're getting ready to sleep - there's a ringing coming from your living room.

"Who could be calling at this hour" runs through your mind as you head into your living room, already half asleep.

As you stumble into your living room, you look around for your phone before freezing in place as it dawns on you that your phone doesn't sound like the ringing you keep hearing.

The ringing comes to an end and you let out a sign of relief, shrugging it off as a friend leaving their phone at your place by mistake. You'll look for it once morning rolls around so you can get it back to them.

You begin heading back to your room, and just as you enter the doorway - you hear a deep rumbling noise from behind you and you freeze in place.

A warm and moist gush of air flows along the back of your neck, your mind rushes as you hear a faint splattering. Behind you begins another deep rumble...

You will do better if you include a pic.
A lot of folks just skip posts without one.
You can pixabay.com if you don't have any of your own.

Excellent. You should write stuff more often. If you want to have a go you could try @mariannewests Freewrite prompt. She posts a new one every day and all you have to do is write for five minutes. It is quite good if you are not sure what to write but want to do a daily post. You'll find the Freewriters community here.
