In Between Seasons

This is what it looks like in between seasons. Some snow, some ice, and ice-cold water. Think November-December time frame, up here in Canada. Always a tough time of year to hike, especially anything with elevation gain, which typically requires poles and ice cleats. Summer is always my favourite time to go, but that being said, anytime time spent in the Canadian Rockies is always time well spent!

I am sure I haven't hiked in that transitional stage, mostly because the footing can be tricky, even with poles. It really is beautiful though, as Mother Nature starts painting a new scene.

The first snow has got to be near-magical as it falls on the mountainside, pure and perfect; we are reminded that the world around us, as it is in nature, is utterly amazing.

That last shot with the snow-laden tree is picture-perfect.

Magical describes it perfectly. But like you said, it can be slippery and even a bit treacherous at times.

I leave the climbing to the experts, I can live vicariously through them. :)

Many monos seem to be a base of black with white highlights. The last pic made me think of a white base with black highlights as in...

Anyways, cool shots as always.
