High Elevation Mountaintop Trails

IMG_20230927_124558_Original.jpeg

Apparently, after doing a little research on this area known as “Ptarmigan Cirque”, the road to get here is considered the highest point elevation wise, accessible by paved road in all of Canada! Wow, that really is amazing. That would explain why the temperature kept dropping as I approached the trailhead area. Must have dropped from about 12°C to 5°C or so in the span of about thirty minutes or so. The elevation around here is about 2,400 metres above sea level. It’s amazing to learn all these interesting facts about a hike, especially after it is completed!! So hiking up here is literally like walking on the Mountaintops, isn’t that cool. I know it effects your blood to oxygen levels (desaturation), therefore making everything seem more difficult at higher elevations. Where do you typically hike, in the lower or higher elevations?

Oh yeah, info is always nice to get into after or before the hikes. Kinda makes you think more about that info and your past venture. Awesome shot's friend, as for the elevation, I'm sure my area is lower than up there. Need to get one of those you got in one day, hopefully.

Personally the higher elevation did not bother me at all, good thing I didn’t realize how high I actually was lol.

Beautiful…I like to hike at lower elevations. Mostly, pine, spruce, balsam fir and cedar forests… I love all the oxygen in these places. I would not do well on a mountain top with lower oxygen levels.

Higher the elevation the higher the reward, in some cases. Thanks.

Super! In the monochrome version, it would be even better if the sky was covered with dark clouds. The contrast of the light peaks against the background of such a sky would create a favorable impression.

Yeah, the straight overcast grey skies don’t cooperate so much. Thanks @avada.

I am always amazed by the beauty at the top of the mountain, as in the picture you posted, it is amazing to see the beauty of nature on top of the peak, it is indeed bad energy to climb the mountain. Although feeling tired during the climb, but after reaching the top the fatigue will disappear so I am, great post that you show us again my brother😊

Beautiful spot for a hike! That is a pretty high elevation, you can always tell by the temperature just how high you are! That's a gorgeous mountain. Always smart to bring along those trekking poles.

Great shots!

Such a fantastic road network, a convergence point for all of Canada wow!
I have never hiked but I learnt in science class that the higher you go, the cooler it becomes. I would love to hike in the coolest part 😎

Indeed, the higher the elevation, the lower the temperature. A cool hike it was. Thanks.
