Current Crypto Holdings (plus a brief look at eTorro)

(Edited)

So… its been awhile since my last post on crypto etc. 28/11/20 in fact, nearly a whole year ago. A lot has happened in that time. Most of which, for me at least, occurred away from Hive. The last 9 months or so I barely made any attempt to interact with the chain, due to being distracted by real life etc.

I am in a better frame of mind these days (most of the time at least) and I am now prepared to start being more productive around here. It is a nice coincidence to see that in the last few months that the price of Hive has finally picked up after being so low for so long.

But it is mere coincidence (honest!), the actual price is not really relevant, the important thing is to keep earning more Hive. I joined initially for those short term gains, and it took me 6 months or so to realise that there is more potential here if I build up my account. For that reason, even though I stopped posting I still kept voting and curating. Most of it was auto-votes (sorry) and I kept my Dlease loans up to date and working for me. I probably gained 700-800 hive just through that (I do like a passive income lol ;-) )

Here is where I stood with my crypto portfolio last year:

There are two obvious differences here. One, the price of Hive really has shot up. I can remember the price being as low as $0.13, and now it seems reasonably stable at $0.80...

The second one is an attempt to add SOL and ADA to my portfolio, as it is very Hive-centric at the moment. A friend mentioned she dabbled in crypto and we got to talking about all sorts. She mostly trades on eTorro and as I hadn't much expose to it I thought i'd give it a go.

Worst. Decision. Ever.

Well, not the Worst, but its still pretty bad. Not only is the social aspect piss poor (full of people desperately shilling whatever coins they have, or complaining that X token hasn't mooned yet)

And I can't do anything with it. I can't move it off that site into a wallet, can't do any staking with it... the only way to 'make money' is to buy low and sell high. At best it is short-term thinking, and at worst it is borderline gambling, and I have always disagreed with this part of crypto.

Also, if I can't move it anywhere, then I can't control it, and the whole point of crypto is to have full control of my money.

So I've tried to diversify into other assets, and the overriding conclusion is that I just should have stuck with Hive (and the odd bit of BTC obviously).

Oh well. I'm now checking eTorro every hour, and when the price goes green I'll be selling and getting my money into something useful!

PS: I'm not saying that investing in SOL or ADA is necessarily a bad thing, but I don't recomend doing it via eTorro lol

Hopefully this shouldn't need saying as I am obviously VERY new to this 'investing in crypto' stuff. This is not financial advice, and I strongly encourage you to do your own research to decide what is best for you etc etc.
