Carica papaya (pawpaw)

Papaya is a fast-growing tropical fruit plant belonging to the family Caricaceae. It has large, deeply lobed, palmate leaves that grow in a spiral arrangement on the trunk. The plant is usually unbranched, with a hollow green or purple-tinged stem that bears clusters of fruit directly beneath the leaves.it is commonly known as pawpaw in some regions.

Characteristics of carica papaya

Leaves are Large, deeply lobed, with 7–9 lobes, bright green in color, and arranged spirally at the top of the trunk.

They can Grow up to 3–10 meters depending on conditions.

Flowers are creamy white to yellow, fragrant, and can be male, female, or hermaphroditic.

Fruit are large, oval green when unripe, turning yellow-orange when ripe with sweet, juicy taste.

They are short-lived perennial.(up to 3years)
