Multiple reparations during vacations | We work more at home! [ENG/SPA]

Howdy friend of reparations and engines, I hope you all had a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year. Today I want to share with you some experiences with my most recent repairs, with a little reflection, because in this "vacation" season we seem to work more at home than when we are at our jobs or businesses.

Que tal amigo de las reparaciones y los motores, espero todos hayan tenido unas felices fiestas y un próspero año nuevo. Hoy deseo compartir con ustedes algunas experiencias con mis más recientes reparaciones, con un poco de reflexión, debido a que en esta época de “vacaciones” parece que trabajamos mas en casa que cuando estamos en nuestros empleos o negocios.

Personalmente cuando me encuentro en casa se que no necesariamente descansare, los ratos libres son para dedicarlos a las reparaciones pendientes, y los mantenimientos necesarios de cualquier artefacto del hogar, o de nuestros vehículos, me atrevo a decir que todos en la comunidad deben sentirse identificados conmigo cuando digo que trabajamos mas en casa que fuera de ella jeje.

I do not remember the last time I disconnected from the day to day, and this December was no exception, because I had to do the cleaning of the air conditioning in the master bedroom, and anyone who has washed a Split air knows how tedious it can be, I also had to fix some drain pipes that began to leak, repair a broken bed, among other things, and to top it off the cooling problem of my car still persists and make the oil change.

No recuerdo la ultima vez que me desconecte de los que haceres del día a día, y este diciembre no fue la excepción, porque me toco hacer la limpieza del aire acondicionado de la habitación principal, y todo el que ha lavado un aire Split sabe lo tedioso que puede ser, además tuve que arreglar algunas tuberías de desagüe que empezaron a filtrase, reparar una cama rota, entre otras cosas, y para rematar aun persiste el problema de enfriamiento de mi carro y hacerle el cambio de aceite.

It is clear that paying for a service or a repair to our things is the most comfortable and simple, I confess that if I had the means I would not hesitate to do it, but there is also satisfaction in repairing something or completing a pending and see everything working properly knowing that it was thanks to your efforts. That's why I persisted in repairing my problem with the cooling system that I had at the end of November last year, and to make the engine oil change myself again.

Es claro que pagar porque nos presten un servicio o hagan una reparación a nuestras cosas es lo más cómodo y sencillo, confieso que de tener los medios no dudaría en hacerlo, pero también hay satisfacción en reparar algo o culminar un pendiente y ver todo funcionar correctamente sabiendo que fue gracias a tus esfuerzos. Es por eso que persistí en reparar mi problema con el sistema de enfriamiento que se me presento a finales del mes de noviembre del año pasado, y realizar yo mismo nuevamente el cambio de aceite de motor.

As for the problem with the cooling system, even to this day I had problems, because water was leaking from the thermostat cover because I did not find a suitable rubber to help make a seal, because the rubber that accompanies the thermostat due to the overheating of the water lost its original shape, increasing in size and they did not sell it alone, I could only buy it together with the thermostat and at the time I did not have the 20 dollars for that expense.

En cuanto al problema con el sistema de enfriamiento, aun hasta la fecha tuve problemas, porque quedo derramando agua por la tapa del termostato porque no encontré una goma adecuada que ayudara hacer sello, porque la goma que acompaña al termostato por el sobrecalentamiento del agua perdió la forma original, aumentando de tamaño y no la vendían sola, solo podía comprarla junto al termostato y en el momento no contaba con los 20 dólares para ese gasto.

So for several days I searched until I found a rubber that was close to the size of the diameter where the thermostat fits, incredibly every store I visited had none that would fit, and for several days I searched in various parts of the city, and when I was about to give up in a small store that I got by mistake, I went to ask and had a rubber that fit very well and with the help of enough silicone to ensure that this time I did not spill and thus close once and for all this problem.

Así que por varios días busque hasta encontrar una goma que se aproximara al tamaño del diámetro donde calza el termostato, increíblemente cada tienda que visite no tenia ninguna que me sirviera, y por varios días busque en varias partes de la ciudad, y cuando ya estaba por darme por vencido en una pequeña tienda que conseguí por error, me acerque a preguntar y tenía una goma que se ajustaba muy bien y con la ayuda de bastante silicón asegurarme que esta vez no derramara y así cerrar de una vez por todas este problema.

With the days the obligations continued and I dedicated myself this time to perform the oil change, I had already spent exactly more than 2700 km according to the counter on the dashboard of the vehicle, I know it seems irresponsible, but it is a sign of the little time I had available to do it, even the color was already completely black, the viscosity little and even the level had dropped.

Con los días las obligaciones continuaron y me dedique esta vez a realizar el cambio de aceite, ya me había pasado exactamente mas de 2700 km según el contador del tablero del vehículo, se que parece irresponsable, pero es una muestra del poco tiempo que tenia disponible para hacerlo, incluso ya el color era negro completamente, la viscosidad poca e incluso el nivel había bajado.

But exactly yesterday I was able to make the change, I used the same oil of the previous occasion, mineral 20 w 50 of national manufacture in presentation of 1 gallon or 3.785 liters, and completed the 4 liters with a little that I took from another gallon that I had stored, then I restarted the kilometer counter that indicates me in a regressive way when the 5 thousand km are finished to make the next oil change.

Pero exactamente del día de ayer pude realizar el cambio, utilice el mismo aceite de la ocasión anterior, mineral 20 w 50 de fabricación nacional en presentación de 1 galón o 3.785 litros, y complete los 4 litros con un poco que tome de otro galón que tenía almacenado, luego reinicie el contador de kilómetros que me indica de manera regresiva cuando se terminan los 5 mil km para hacer el siguiente cambio de aceite.

In general it is good to be able to fulfill these obligations, they are simple things, or they are for me because it is something I have done several times in the past and it is easy. Catching up by taking advantage of these "free days" is important before other activities begin, such as the school season, for example, when you have to drive a lot more, but I confess that I still wish for a few days of real relaxation, even more so when my birthday is coming up and I always spend it very busy.

En general es bueno poder cumplir con estas obligaciones, son cosas sencillas, o lo son para mí porque ya es algo que he hecho varias veces en el pasado y resulta fácil. Ponerme al día aprovechando estos “días libres” es importante antes de que inicien otras actividades como por ejemplo la temporada escolar que incluso hay que rodar mucho mas con el vehículo, pero confieso que igual no dejo de desear unos días de verdadera relajación, mas aun cuando se aproxima mi cumpleaños y siempre lo paso muy ocupado.
