Who to Blame: Elon for buying or twitter for Selling

Since the takeover of X (formerly twitter) by the multi billion dollar business magnet Elon Musk, there has been a series of user discomfort. Several rules have been amended, some accounts deactivated, subscription model implemented (the $8 monthly bluetick) and even currently the introduction of $1 yearly registration fee for new users although not yet implemented in all part of the world. While some have taken their early businesses to other platforms in the process, others have become entirely trapped by the system.

You know, when you've stayed too long on X before its acquisition by the Tesla conglomerate, it is difficult to move your business elsewhere. The issue may not really be you, but your fan base or should I say the niche you've built over time. It's very difficult or nearly impossible to move all of them to a new platform as it sounds inconvenient. I have been looking at the scenario with a raised question like? Who actually has created this assumed user discomfort, could it be Elon Musk for buying or Jack Dorsey for selling.

A look at data privacy

Data privacy has continued to be talked about especially in the emergence of blockchain and web3. How safe is data in a centralized system? How can one know what their personal info is used for and how risky can such an act be to an individual if centralized companies go unethical.

Data privacy centers on the protection of an individual's or organization's personal or sensitive information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or exploitation. It involves controlling and safeguarding data to ensure that it is not misused, and that individuals have a say in how their data is collected and used. If all this encompasses the proper use of user data, can one say its much advisable or accepted to transfer data to another hands.

Was Jack Dorsey expecting twitter (now X) to continue in operation the same way it did before the handing over? Actually not I must say, he expected changes and change can be either to the better or a worse scenario as the case may be. Though I must say, there are users who just love complaining, if actually all complain made about Twitter after the purchase by Elon to the now X are all true, personally I wouldn't pour all the discomfort attribute on the buyer, he who sold too may have in one way or the other inconvenienced it users. Rules are expected to change or rather amended when a new king sits on the throne.

Maybe Elon's view about X is not exactly as Jack Dorsey's. Its business and every entrepreneur has his own tactics though it may sometimes lead to inconveniencing a certain group. I know what is running on your mind, maybe Jack Dorsey should have understood the level of trust users had on him to build their brands and future businesses on twitter( now X). Hmmm, business seems a platform for tactical decisions, don't blame others too much, maybe you would have done same.

Or Can you Also Blame Yourself

This may sound funny, but most times users tend to create their own dissatisfaction. Let's be sincere, when last did you take time to read terms and conditions about a platform before venturing into it. Lols, who has such time, when looking at how piled up and boring the process can be, the trick is just to scroll down to accept an continue. This overtime has always added to future discomforts. I must be sure there is usually a place in the T&C that talks about data transfer if the need arises. Maybe that's why its always so long and boring so that you won't cath up with that part. Hahaha, this trick usually works for inventors.

What is customer satisfaction: profit vs discomfort

I could remember I wrote an article on profit or satisfaction: what future business hold, do well to go through it, you I'll learn a lot. The ideas of customer or user satisfaction may diminish over time, we continue to see it surface gradually in online businesses. The idea of transferring a business to another can be on its own a display of customer dissatisfaction. What are business created for? We usually hear, the sole aim of a business is to maximize profit. This has brought deaf ears to customer's satisfaction. We have seen this happening many times. Companies selling out an entire organization to the highest bider without even reviewing the need of the user base satisfaction. Some even forget, it was this same users that brought them the acquired growth and fame.

If I want to delve into how profit eludes satisfaction we may have to be looking at a two thousand plus article write up. Maybe story for another day.Though some may do this for good intentions when they find out they are unable to properly managed an expanded user base platform, others have basically been for greed. Selling it out and getting the money and later build another platform and you expecting those users to again jump into your boat. I guess I would try not to be a double victim. All I'm trying to tell entrepreneurs is that though profit is good, reputation may be better. When gains inconveniences the masses, it is hoarding.

In conclusion let me say, I am much of a realist who loves viewing actions an inactions indepthly before making a say. Businesses needs to thrive on data privacy and user satisfaction. The moment an organization transfers its business to another by means of selling, anything is possible. The trust for online platforms may continue to diminish if this is not properly curbed. There was a reason why a user joined a platform and anytime the reason is not met maybe due to transfer of business, many parties may have to bear the blame.
