[Esp/Eng] Concurso. Observa Piensa Escribe. Problemas sobre el asfalto. | Contest: Observe, Think, Write. Problems on the Asphalt.

¡Hola hermosa comunidad TopFiveFamily!

Hello, wonderful TopFiveFamily community! It’s so nice to say hello again and join this week’s “Observe, Think, Write” Contest. The image makes me think about the phenomenon currently taking place in traffic, which has increased significantly. What used to take us, say, 15 minutes to get from one place to another, it now easily takes an hour to reach our destination, because there are so many vehicles on the road at the same time, and each vehicle is a world unto itself—they all have their own needs and want to arrive as soon as possible. Often, they do not follow the proper order and end up disregarding traffic laws; they do not respect them, and this is why so many accidents have occurred.
Sometimes I have a lot of mixed feelings—anger, unease, and sadness—at seeing so many human lives lost or cut short because people don’t follow the laws or drive carefully.
We’re currently seeing a phenomenon: a disproportionate increase in motorcycle accidents. The number of deaths and injuries in these cases is staggering. I used to think this was just a problem in Venezuela, but no—I’ve realized it’s a global issue. It’s insane how many collisions and tragic incidents involve motorcycles, and how many people die or are left disabled because riders fail to obey traffic laws—mostly due to speeding; My husband works as an ambulance driver, and he tells me all sorts of things—it’s really nerve-wracking. So many lives are at risk, lives that end up cut short or with serious injuries in hospitals. And what’s most concerning are their families, who often lack the resources to cover the medical costs for the accident victim. It’s very sad to see them begging for medical care and medicine for their relative; it’s heartbreaking to see mothers crying because they don’t have the money to care for an injured person or even to bury the body of a deceased family member.
In short, I think we need to take a tougher stance on this problem, since it’s getting out of hand—more awareness campaigns, stricter driving regulations, and stricter licensing requirements for operating these types of vehicles, along with hefty fines, in order to minimize the number of incidents and ensure that drivers in general become aware of the problem that has arisen and change their attitude.
