Greetings, friends of @holos-lotus.

El poder de la incomodidad is the topic proposed by our friend @charjaim in her column “Esa vida nuestra” (Our Life). It is a very revealing topic when we delve into it. Below, I share my point of view on the matter.

I say revealing because what makes us uncomfortable says a lot about who we are, what we like, our limits, and many other aspects that make us who we are. For example:

I am more of a visual person than a tactile or auditory one, so my environment requires a minimum of order and harmony for me to feel comfortable. Does this mean that I am súper organized? No, I am not a fanatic about cleanliness, but it is important for me to wake up every morning and find my bathroom clean and tidy, as well as the living room, kitchen, and the room where I work.

To make this happen, every night before I end my day and retire to my quarters, as my husband says, I scrub and tidy up the kitchen, the table, and anything else that is out of place. Before I take a bath, I clean what needs to be cleaned, and when I get out, I leave everything tidy, as I do in my work area and bedroom. Since there are only two of us, it doesn't take me much time, but it ensures that I start my day happy and relaxed.

Of course, there are things in my home that bother me and make me uncomfortable, things that require money to fix. For example, I have moisture on the walls and ceiling. In January, we decided to start repairing the walls of the bedrooms, and when March came around, in the middle of the dry season, we would tackle the ceiling, which screams at me almost every day, “When are you going to fix me?” With the same answer, now I respond and answer myself, “Son, it will be next year, because I had a trip come up, and that became my priority this year.”

And so, even though it bothers me and I intend to fix it, I like to manage myself with priorities, ranking what is most important to me. This is another revealing aspect that discomfort gives you, being patient, because one would like to be able to resolve everything that causes discomfort in the shortest time possible, but the resources are not there for that. Therefore, the best way I find to be at peace is to fill myself with active patience, that is, to know and accept that at this moment I cannot do it, but “step by step, slowly but surely,” I will achieve it.

Beyond external discomfort lies what causes me internal discomfort, and one of the things I am most aware of is feeling that I am not making progress in what I set out to do. This is completely related to the above and speaks to my impatience. This discomfort moves me, pushes me to want to do more, but I have also been learning to value every step and achievement, no matter how small, thereby reinforcing, once again, patience and internalizing that in life we are builders and that each project is like a house that I am building, and no house is built overnight.

There are aspects of my interpersonal relationships that make me uncomfortable, and I have learned a lot about tolerance and empathy, but also about setting clear boundaries, all within the framework of mutual respect. If this component does not exist in the relationship, a goodbye is necessary, something like: I love you, I respect you, and I set you free.

Maintaining uncomfortable relationships generates more pain than joy, and when we talk about holistic well-being, we have to pay attention to balance.

Cleaning and making your environment neat can bring some great taste of life to your. It is good to keep your environment neat just to bring in some comfort to your heart.

One always needs peace by taking discomfort away through patience. That's my principle.

An inspiring reflection ❤️
Discomfort clearly tells us who we are, i totally agree with that. There are many times I understand myself better due to the way I react to discomfort caused by other people. I can see my flaws most of the time, the bad side of me; like intolerance.

I didn't really understand the initiative, I might try to participate now.
Thank you, I wish you success in all your endeavours.
