I finally purged a bunch of my old clothing

It feels good to let go ๐Ÿšฎ

I pride myself on not being a hoarder. I see so many people gather and gather, it makes me anxious to see just how much junk one person can accumulate. I am able to get rid of things that I do not need and avoid making purchases that do not make sense. I do not wish to pile up an ungodly amount of things and then struggle to release them later on when it is not needed. For the most part, I do a fantastic job of this. Living in such a small place right now helps a lot I'm sure.

One thing that I am not so good at keeping from getting too much of is clothing. It is just too easy to buy a shirt here and there and not realize that I am adding and adding to an already large collection. I have been a fan of picking out unique outfits since I was young. My mother always encouraged me to wear what I want, I guess I get it from her. I'm pretty sure she gets it from her parents too. Her dad is known to wear a lot of colorful and wild outfits, just like me!

@flowerbaby likes to go shopping and I tag along pretty frequently. This gives me ample opportunity to buy clothing. I try to avoid shopping online, it's just too easy to buy things that I do not need. It becomes a bit harder when I have something there in my hand and it just happens to be on a deep sale. So let's just say that I have way too many clothes. Shirts, pants, shoes, hats, socks, you name it. I've got too much of it. I needed to get rid of many things for quite a while. Finally, I have begun the process of slimming down my collection, many thanks for bulking up my physique.

In the above photo, you can count 60 hangers that are no longer in use. Before beginning my clothing purge the other night, I had zero extra hangers. That is a pretty awesome reduction, I'd like to pat myself on the back for that. My mom on the other hand was just talking about needing more hangers because she cannot stop buying new things, looks like I know who to give a portion of these extra ones to. I was having to put multiple pairs of pants on one hanger, that's how out of space I was getting. I'm thrilled to announce that I have everything on one hanger now and still have this many extras.

I have grown out of a lot of my old clothes. I used to wear a small/medium in shirts and a 30 waist in pants. I now wear a medium/large in tops and a 32 waist. I've purchased some new things that actually fit me, so it was past time for me to get rid of things that I just cannot wear anymore. I put it off for so long. I have a total of 3 giant trash bags that I took to the Goodwill donation center. This was stuff that I didn't think had much of a chance on the resale market. I know that guys around town will enjoy finding my unique items at Goodwill the next time that they are shopping at the discount store.

On top of these 3 bags, I also had a fourth bag full of work clothes. I will be taking those back to my former employer soon I'm sure. In case you didn't know, I quit that job finally at the end of November. Best decision ever so far! I cannot wait to bring them my uniforms and never have to wear those ugly things ever again in my life.

You may notice that I have a commercial grade closet on wheels in my main living area. Yes, I told you before I have a lot of clothes. Fashion is one of my passions, so I feel like I will always have a lot of clothing in my wardrobe. The thing is, I still feel like I reduced my total amount my so much. This rack of clothes was packed full. So much so, that I could barely even push things to the side to get my items in/out. It was really annoying, but I just dealt with it since I was too lazy to go through all of my old stuff. I've got to thank @flowerbaby for encouraging me to finally purge.

My closet in my bedroom finally has some space. I wish I had a before photo. It was jam-packed. I had stuff falling from the top and it was just so unorganized. Every time that I opened the door, things were hitting the floor. It was a mess and I feel so much better about it now. I can actually see what's in there instead of forgetting about some of my favorite things. My closest, at last, has the ability to breathe and so do I!

Not only did I have a ton of donations, but I also have some items that I believe may sell on Poshmark. This tub is full of higher prices items from designer brands that have a decent resell market. Now that I am pretty familiar with Poshmark and how shipping works, I am pretty confident that I will be able to make some extra money. I've already taken photos of all of the items, which honestly took way too long. I've yet to list everything, but that is my next step. I hope to knock that out this week sometime.

This is not the first time that I've had to do a big purge of my clothing like this. Every time I get rid of a bunch, it's like my mind knows I have space for more new stuff again. Hopefully this time I can refrain from buying a bunch of unneeded clothing. My apartment already feels more spacious after getting rid of so much, I'd like to keep it that way.

Letting go of things that you do not need is an excellent way to Bee a Better You, which is why I chose to post to this community. I hope that my ability to purge will inspire others to do the same. Whether it be with clothing or another habit.

Awesome man, love purging! We've done it ourselves over the past few months in prep to move. It's good to find things and donate it to people who may not be able to afford it.

I hear you on the changing of sizes hahaha. I have a pair of size 30 Lucky jeans that I haven't gotten rid of but probably need to. Trouble is, I love the color of them and haven't found a similar pair yet! I haven't fit into them in a few years though sadly lol.

It feels great to declutter and also help some others out by donating.

I kept the smaller-sized jeans that I loved for far too long. I'm not a big jeans guy, so it's hard for me to find the perfect ones. I'm proud to say that I was able to get rid of the Levi's that no longer fit me, no matter how dope they were. I have some new ones, but they just aren't the same. Fit way better though, that's really what matters.
