City stray animals having a good time

Hello Hive Pets community!

Searching through the Communities made me find Hive Pets, I also quickly browsed through some of the posts that I found interesting. I think it's nice to have a pet that we can play with and watch as they do funny things around the house, hence dogs and cat videos are a big hit over the internet.

I don't have a specific preference for a pet dog or a pet cat because both of them have unique qualities that I find cute or funny even though they are annoying. Caring for them is a pet owner's priority so that they stay healthy and happy as well. Pets require the basic care that we as owners should provide whenever we take the responsibility to bring them to our homes. That includes food, shelter, health supplements, and hygiene. It's a responsibility to have a pet and we should do our best to make it an obligation to care for them.

If there's one thing you shouldn't do with your pet is to let them go stray. That's especially true in a city where there is tight regulation when it comes to the animals going stray on the street with no place to go. These animals tend to be "vagrants" or they steal someone else's food. They could become a nuisance to others and cause problems in the neighborhood. When this happens, someone would report them to the authorities. Eventually, these stray animals will be caught and brought to shelters. However, it won't simply end that way because the shelters can't accommodate every stray animal out from the street. Sooner or later, these animals will be euthanized and it won't be a good story to inform whoever the owner of the stray animal is.

Surprisingly, in a modern city like Singapore, there are exemptions regarding the stray animals that are roaming the city. It seems that these stray animals are also aware of their limitations when it comes to how they live in the city. They seem to know the extent of what they can do and they shouldn't live freely alongside the city dwellers.

I've seen stray animals that can find loopholes and be able to live as normal city dwellers as well.

A while ago, I was walking along the street, and in the corner of my eye, I found a group of city pigeons that were gathering around a bowl of food. One of the residents left food on the side which I assume is meant for the stray pigeons. The government has been discouraging the residents from feeding the stray birds because they become dependent on humans and the food that was left uneaten will become food for the city pests. There's a good logic to that because the tiny bits of food that were scattered on the ground will become meals for cockroaches.

Regardless, I still find it amazing to see that these stray pigeons can roam freely and get some food occasionally for the residents who care about them. They may not be domesticated but at least, for a moment, they feel at home in the city. Just like this sleeping chubby cat on the side of the walkway.
