This weekend has been a shocker and we have 2 generators so we are still fortunate. We will be off the grid in the new year which is not what I had planned but we have no choice,

Are you going off grid with petrol? Quite an expense!
No. That would be too costly. I have researched solar and have people who know people to bring the costs down. I can go totally off for around R150K and that is nearly 40% more power than required. Need the excess to cover the over cast days so there will be a few extra storage batteries.
Indeed! Well, if you have your own property and you have the money it would be logical to get off that ineffective grid!
