I went to the cinema without seeing any trailer, so I didn't know what the movie was about. I'll try to explain a bit without giving too much detail. Don't Worry Darling tells the story of Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles), a young married couple who are lucky enough to live in an idealized community called Victory, an experimental city of a company that makes advances as incredible as confidential. The husbands work every day at the same time, within the typical routine of perfect homes of the old American dream: the wife prepares the food, the men work all day, while they dedicate themselves to housework, cooking, cleaning, because that is their function within life within the community. The idea is a bit archaic, but let's say vintage, complementing the aesthetics of the film, which looks like something out of a 1950s movie, the cars, the dresses, the colors.

Fui al cine sin haber visto ningún avance, así que no sabía de qué trataba la película. Intentaré explicar un poco sin dar demasiados detalles. Don't Worry Darling cuenta la historia de Alice (Pugh) y Jack (Styles), un joven matrimonio que tiene la suerte de vivir en una comunidad idealizada llamada Victory, una ciudad experimental de una compañía que realiza avances tan increíbles como confidenciales. Los esposos trabajan todos los días en un mismo horario, dentro de la típica rutina de hogares perfectos del antiguo sueño americano: la esposa prepara la comida, los hombres trabajan todo el día, mientras ellas se dedican a las labores hogareñas, cocinar, limpiar, porque esa es su función dentro de la vida dentro de la comunidad. Un poco arcaica la idea, pero digamos vintage, complementando la estética de la película, la cual parece de una película de los años cincuenta, los autos, los vestidos, los colores.

Added to this is the secrecy of the company: neither we nor their wives know exactly what they do there because it's confidential. The CEO of the company, Frank (Pine), is a corporate visionary, the head of the project and also functions a bit as a spiritual leader and motivational coach of that idyllic lifestyle.

A ello se suma el secretismo de la compañía: ni nosotros ni sus esposas sabemos exactamente qué es lo que hacen allí porque es confidencial. El Director General de la compañía, Frank (Pine), es un visionario corporativo, la cabeza del proyecto y funciona también un poco como líder espiritual y coach motivacional de ese idílico estilo de vida.

Up to there, all good. Everything is wonderful. Frank and Alice are young, childless, and have plenty of time to satisfy each other sexually (which often happens at the beginning of the film), until some cracks begin to appear in their lives: Alice begins to see glimpses of something mysterious hides under so much secrecy and so much perfection. Out of respect for those who want to see the movie and also because it just came out, I won't spoil it, but I will say that from there the plot goes somewhere very different from Victory. I liked the way that, throughout the film, some flashes were appearing, loose images, apparently unconnected that later take on a meaning when the core of the plot is revealed and when the end of the tape is reached.

Hasta allí, todo bien. Todo es maravilloso. Frank y Alice son jóvenes, no tiene hijos y tienen mucho tiempo para satisfacerse sexualmente (lo que sucede con frecuencia al inicio de la cinta), hasta que comienzan a aparecer algunas grietas en su vida: Alice comienza a ver destellos de algo misterioso que se esconde bajo tanto secreto y tanta perfección. Por respeto a quienes quieran ver la película y también por el hecho de que recién se acaba de estrenar, no haré spoilers, pero sí diré que a partir de allí la trama se dirige hacia un lugar muy diferente a Victory. Me gustó la forma en que, a lo largo del film, fueron apareciendo algunos flashes, imágenes sueltas, aparentemente inconexas que luego cobran un sentido cuando se revela el núcleo de la trama y cuando se llega al final de la cinta.

I really liked the performances, especially the one by Florence, the direction is acceptable, the script is a bit different from what one is used to seeing, the photography is good and that vintage aesthetic that I mentioned before is pleasing to the eye, I would say that In each of these aspects the film comes out successful. However, I didn't love it. It's not one of those stories that I would watch again, or that I would want to go back to in the future to look at the details again, I don't know exactly why, but that's the way it is, I didn't connect with the story or with any character. It just premiered so very few people have seen it so far, but as soon as they do I'd like to know your opinion in the comments.

Me gustaron mucho las actuaciones, especialmente la de Florence, la dirección es aceptable, el guión es un poco diferente a lo que uno acostumbra a ver, la fotografía es buena y esa estética vintage que mencioné antes es agradable a la vista, yo diría que en cada uno de esos aspectos la película sale airosa. Sin embargo, no la amé. No es una de esas historias que volvería a ver, o que quisiera repasar en el futuro para fijarme de nuevo en los detalles, no sé exactamente por qué, pero es así, no sentí que conectara con la historia o con algún personaje. Recién se estrenó así que hasta ahora muy poca gente la ha visto, pero en cuanto lo hagan me gustaría conocer su opinión en los comentarios.
