The season is pretty much over but I will continue to make updates on my Sorare Journey as I have highly enjoyed playing this Fantasy Football game in my first full year despite dropping prices. My overall strategy during the off-season is to keep track of all the transfer news as it's happening and at current prices I'm looking to get some Rare cards in order to be able to potentially compete in the Rare 240 Cap League which pays 50$ in ETH for getting 250 points any given game week. The goal there will be to pick up cheap players that I believe are undervalued and can help me toward scoring the needed 250 points at least 2 or 3 times during the season.
Sorare News
Similar to pretty much all Play2Earn games, the economy and keeping it alive tends to be a struggle since the company has costs to cover and wants to make money while players also expect to earn which is only possible when enough new players come into the ecosystem. Since there is constant inflation of player cards it makes most of them by default less valuable over time while the competition always gets harder and harder. They already implemented a fee on card sales and collections were also introduced. These give all players a bonus up to +5% based on how many other players from that team and season are held by a player.
This gives another small 'pay2win' bonus to players that have wide collections or for fans of specific teams who aim to collect all players. None of this affects the Cap 240 Leagues however as bonuses don't count there.
If anything, it gives older cards come extra utility and value. From what I understand, they are also looking to implement easier fiat payment options instead as right now ETH and having to deal with wallets is not the most mainstream-friendly. So apple pay options should become available which might bring in a ton of new players for the next season.

Cap 240 League
My goalkeeper Butez has been hot which comes at the downside that his average score over the last 15 matches was very high so he takes up too much points out of the 240 in order to be able to play some of my other players that tends to perform best. There is just 1 weekend left on which I expect similar scores well below the 250 Threshold.

Rewards
No extra rewards in the last 3 weeks but overall on the season I managed to get inside the money 12 differnt times which is more than I anticipated when I started playing at the start of the season. I should be in a good spot with extra experience next season to get a lot more also because I'm able to put many of the cards that I earned to good use. At the same time, it will likely become a lot more challenging to actually earn card rewards.
New Player Purchases
I also haven't bought new players even though I will start putting out some offers for Rare Players where the bonus % doesn't matter as I only aim to join the Rare 240 cap League. Aside from that I might look for some Limited players with an eye yo enforce my competitiveness for the 2023-2024 Season.

I don't expect too much for the coming week as Noubissi is unlikely to score many points but I have to put him in due to the 240 points cap and also don't have enough other striker options.

I'm doing the recalculation every month or so as it takes quite some time manually now that I start to own more players. The 5% sellers fee is already calcuated into the Total account Value.

Conclusion
The first year in Sorare was really fun for me even though I'm down on what I invested both because I made plenty of rookie mistakes and the market, in general, is down a lot. I am looking forward to next season where I aim to also enter a rare team. THIS. I learned this the hard way.
I still kind of hope there will be a point at least for Splinterlands when older cards become 'crazy expensive' again. If there is another adoption wave the Demand > Supply might cause this even though I'm not counting on it. The idea also is that you buy something once and profit from it by getting rewards forever after also is just not realistic. The companies behind these games wanting and having to make profit will always make it hard for players to actually get more out of it unless they get in early and sell at the top. Good lessons learned for sure.
