SMAP Contest Round 70: Open Beak Policy

avatar

Every week @nelinoeva hosts a fun contest in the Feathered Friends Community. This week's theme is BIRD WITH OPEN BEAK.

Entry photo is down there somewhere, you'll find it eventually.

The best part about driving along country roads is the cool shit you come across.
You gotta have a keen eye, though. And make sure you watch the road and find a safe place to pull off to take pictures of your fawn-eating vultures so you yourself don't become the next roadside spectacle and/or this family's next meal.

If the circle of life makes you queasy, you'll want to scroll past these next few pictures.

Hahah they are very intimidating with their wings open and mouth yelling like that.

Aren't they?? Their beaks are so strong and sharp. I wouldn't try and steal their dinner.
I wish I had a longer lens. They have such weirdly exposed nostrils.
Thanks for the boost!!

I always just see them up in the air. I've never had the chance to see them on the ground, I bet their nostrils are just like the sandhill cranes where you can see all the way through to the other side of the nostril from the side.

Yes!! They could totally rock a septum ring.

They might end up with a wishbone one if they aren't careful enough with their carcass gorging.

I was expecting to see some of your crow friends. Suprise, suprise! The vultures! Not very often to be seen around. Great shots!

Thank you!!
I was hoping to get some good shots of baby crows being fed, but so far they are still up too high in the trees. Vultures it is!
I have a challenging idea for a theme: bird on another animal. I don't know if I'll be able to enter unless I use a picture of Bo on my head, but there are lots of places where birds hang out on animals like cows, oxen, horses. Or bird with another animal. OR two species of bird in one frame.

Wow, you have always some original ideas. 🙂
I will add them to my list. About the bird on another animal, this will be rather tricky and maybe not many could have, but I can put for sure bird with another animal and if anybody have bird on top of another animal, will receive some extra reward for example.
