She was ranting and panting at the same time for reasons best known to her while in her room alone. Her daughter got afraid as this would be the first time seeing her this way.

The ranting and panting sound got Tess afraid as she was finding it difficult to leave her room just to ask her mum what the problem was. Gluing to her bed so early with the loud noise which sounded so strange to her made her remain restless.

She could not hold it but walked up to her mom and asked "Mum!! What's the problem?"

As she saw the room, she was surprised to see how her mum got the room messed up. "For the first time, my mum's room is just like a refuse dump". She said to herself soliloquizing.

Tess's mum was unable to say a word and instead kept mute. The room was just like a graveyard. Her mum's silence sent something deep into her sense of humanness. What else should I do to make my mum respond to me? She is not even looking in my direction after five minutes of raising her voice so hard. Tess said.

Mum!!! Please respond to me. Who has offended you? What has the person done to you? Mum, please what's the problem? Tess said to her mum leaning bedside the window and trying to look at her mom's face. She drew closer to her mum and saw that she was weeping seriously. Mum!!! Why are you crying? Is that why you drift your face away from me? Tess said.

Tess tried to search for her phone to see if she received any call that could have caused her to be sober. Tess could not find her phone. She tried hard to find her mum's phone but the more she tried the more she got the room messed up. Every part of the room was jam-packed with clothes.

The phone rang and Tess answered the call without looking at the name or number of the person calling.

Hello", she said from her end.

Hello.

"It's dad's voice, she said". She looked at the number and found out that it was her dad who was calling.

Without wasting time, her mum fled the phone from her hand. It was just as if she was expecting a call. Tears took over her face as the water rolled down her chicks. She could not say a word other than to bear her mood without letting her husband know about it. Tess was just observing her mum's behavior but could not say a word to make her feel sad again.

From the other end, Tess heard her dad talking, but her mum was not responding. "But mum! dad is still on the phone, why can't you respond? Mum, please talk to my dad, he is the only one who would make you feel happy ". Yes, said her mum, but she was so adamant and still crying sitting on the clothes she flung on the floor.

Messing the room was an understatement, but flooding the room with her years got Tess surprised.

Finally, she spoke after dropping the phone. Her voice seemed so pale and her speech was so dull. According to her look, all is not well, Tess guessed.

"I'm in pain right now". Your dad will be coming home tomorrow but something is missing in me that I must find. Tess's mum said to her with a soft voice different from the initial ranting and panting voice.

What is it you are looking for, mum? Tess asked.

Could you believe that since the very day your sas gave me my wedding ring, I have not pulled it off? Tess's mum said. The very first time I pulled it off, your dad almost got angry and told me never to remove it. It's the sign of our union and love. She continued. Knowing him was lovely and I can never do something to hurt his feelings for me. She kept talking.

Tess asked her mum. "So, why are you crying right now?". What happened that caused your weeping? Please I want to know, mum.

At least you have heard what I just explained. My wedding ring is missing. I pulled it when I had a cut on my finger and now it's missing. Tess's mum said.

Tess began to laugh so intensely. She almost laughed her intestine out of her belly. Her mum was surprised to see her daughter laughing at the mistake she had made.

"But, are you happy that my wedding ring disappeared?" Her mum asked.

No mum, Is this the reason why you got the whole of the room messed up?

The roof of the house was about to fall just because of the sound of Tess's laughter.

No mum... You're so funny. "I'm laughing so hard because your wedding ring is right on your finger".

What!!!!... It means I will be confident to talk to your dad right now. Tess' mum said to her.
