From crazy busy Singapore to the jungle of Chiang Mai.

At certain points in the past I have had very big weekends.

Sometimes Brad and I would visit a parkrun close to home on a Saturday and then climb a mountain on the Sunday.

Or we've done something similar but in reverse: drive to a parkrun a loooong way away on a Saturday morning and then do a local run with one of our run clubs on the Sunday.

But a weekend THIS big, as big as we've just done, is super rare.

Yesterday morning I woke at 4 am, in Singapore. It was an hour before the alarm was due to wake us but with impending, exciting plans apparently I wasn't going back to sleep.

A few hours later we were running 5 km at parkrun at East Coast Park.

A few hours after that we were eating an early lunch at Singapore airport.

And a few hours after that we were receiving hugs from family members at the Arrivals area of the small but functional Chang Mai airport.

There were things to do, things to see, food to eat.

And since I was struggling to communicate just how tired I was and also experiencing sharp belly pains I sometimes get when I'm stressed out, it was after 9 pm when we finally started to move towards bed.

Meanwhile, my body thought it was still in Singapore's timezones and thought it was 10 pm.

Some people might do okay on 6 hours sleep but not this chicky; I need about 9. Every single night.

While I was delighted to be visiting family I hadn't seen in years too long, I slept poorly, tossing and turning in the heat,

all

night

long.

Thankfully, I felt awake enough to get up just as the sun rose. It looked like this out of our bedroom window and I was delighted again to be here.

Our Sunday started slowly.

We snuck into the kitchen to make food without waking the others.

We chatted with them over more food and coffee once they woke.

We walked around the farm and check out the many, many fruit trees on the property.

We patted the family's dogs, including the six month old, still biting, super energetic and super cute puppy.

We showered. Again.

We jumped in the car to explore.

First, a late lunch somewhere divinely beautiful with kind people, lots of handmade made wooden structures, a suspension bridge and ducks :)

Then, when I probably should have gone home for a nap, we were quickly on route to a local hot springs.

The hottest part: 105'C. 😳

The bit where we sat with our legs in the water: 40-45'C. 😁

With my long pants and long top I didn't last too long, but I did actually feel better by the time we left than I had on the way.

We stopped in at a local market on the way home. (My idea; I must have been feeling a wee bit better).

We I bought crazy coloured local snacks. We didn't find the specific kind of clothing we were looking for. But I was cooked; it was time to go home.

Now, dinner has just arrived. The woman of the house has spent the last hour cooking something I am yet to see, while I've been sitting here hiding in the quiet of solitude and the fading light of our Sunday.

It has been a very, very big weekend.

I pray I get some more sleep tonight so the days to come, here in Chiang Mai, can be truly awesome and that I have the energy to fully appreciate them.

Photo by me. I thought I was opening a passionfruit but it turned out to be the weirdest (amd yummiest) mandarin I'be ever eaten.
