What music I have been listening to recently - funk fusion and experimental metal

It has been a while since I have done one of these posts and thought it would be good to get back to it! I love sharing new music with others and getting there thoughts. My brothers and I have an album of the week which we share and so I always have something new and exciting to listen to!

Recently I have come across some funk fusion from a family member and I am absolutely loving it.

Dirty Loops

Dirty Loops are a band I have recently stumbled across who play funk/jazz fusion, along with tones of rock, disco and electronica. Dirty Loops are from Sweden and have 3 studio albums, the most recent being Turbo (with Cory Wong - who I also reccomend listening to!). Here is there song Rock You to check out:

As you can probably hear they have some funky bass lines and also undertones of disco and even a slight Michael Jacksonesque sound. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Going down The Beatles rabbit hole...

Like many music fans I have been excited about The Beatles documentary Get Back - I am still only half way through though as it is very long at around 7 hours.

It is incredible to see the writing process they go through and it has started me listening to The Beatles again - I have never been there number one fan but do enjoy their music and influence. Along with The Beatles they all had incredible solo careers - my favorite being Paul McCartney and Wings.

What I also learnt is that John Lennon has two sons, Sean and Julian who write some great music. Sean Lennon is also in a collaboration with Les Claypool (from Primus) called the Claypool Lennon Delerium - Very cool! Check this out - Blood and Rockets:

Chet Faker - Hotel Surrender

Chet Faker is such an amazing musician I have been into for a long time and I was excited when he released the new album Hotel Surrender in 2021, after a long hiatus. This album has taken more of an electronic and pop direction and a move away from his slower ballads and jazzy influenced tunes.

It took a while to grow on me but now I love it. Heres the lead single Low:

Ghostmane

Now for something very different - Ghostemane. Ghostemane is predominantly metal, but also has elements of rap, trap, electronica and much more! I can hear elements of Marilyn Manson, Powerman 5000 and even a range of rappers coming through with this. It is very high energy music, which explains why most albums clock in at around 30 minutes. Lets again go for one of the newer songs ´fed up´:

I would love your feedback on my most recent choices in music!
