Upcoming Health Initiatives

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the upcoming health initiatives I'm going to try!

Upcoming Health Initiatives

If there's one thing that we all know, it's that our health is such an important factor for us. We definitely take it for granted though, especially in the contemporary times where for the most part we don't have to do strenuous work like farming with horses and plows and stuff like they've done in the past. This has, among many other things, made us a little bit lazy!

of5.jpg

I'm no exception for that, I try to be on the better side that's for sure however I have fallen into my little ruts lately and put on a couple extra pounds than I would have liked. Granted, I'm not in that bad of shape considering, but I know that I can do better and I wanted to figure out what I can do to make that so!

One of the people I listen to regularly is Joe Rogan, for various reasons. I love the people he has on his show and the incredible conversations that he has with them. I don't absorb all of the information but I do get bits and pieces and it expands my worldview a bit which is great.

IMG_1344.JPG

One of the things that Rogan and some of his friends do that I think is a great thing is to undertake health challenges of a sort. Sober October is one of those challenges! They do not consume any mind altering substances for the entire month of October and it's something that I'm going to give a try! I'm not one to get drunk all the time or use other mind altering substances like cannabis all day every day. I do enjoy a beer or a smoke every now and then though, and it's often times a few nights a week when I'm winding down after work.

With Sober October though, I'm going to try my hardest to make it the entire month of October without consuming anything! I want to give myself a mental and physical challenge, to make sure that not only can I have the willpower to not indulge in those vices for an entire month, but I also need to prove to myself that I can undertake a challenge like this because overall it is incredibly good and important for our bodies to get a break from these types of things even if it's just for a few weeks!

The second challenge I wanted to do is something related to sugar and sweetened things. Granted it's going to be a lot harder to do this one but I would like to think that I'm up for the challenge! I don't consume excessive amounts of sweets, thankfully, but I do enjoy some every now and then! I want to go the entire month of September without consuming any type of excessively sweetened substance.

IMG_2196.jpeg

That sounds vague doesn't it? Well I'm referring to consuming things like candy, chocolate, muffins, donuts, cakes, cupcakes, pastries and the other things that are on that list that are just overall bad for us and for our health. They taste sooooo good though! Hahaha but I need to clean up my diet on that regard as well. I don't consume these things on a daily basis which is good, but I think that I do consume some of it on a weekly basis to some extent. For example when I go to one of my side jobs, I always get a donut in the morning when I head out for the day. It's not the best thing for sure but it's a little treat and snack for me to reward myself a little bit for working extra when I don't necessarily have to. These are the things that I want to cut out and intentionally limit after the month is over but certainly be incredibly strict for the month.

I know these things are small but I think they are important steps for a few reasons. We need to do these things to challenge our minds and bodies in my opinion, and what better way to challenge ourselves then to cut out things that taste or feel good, but aren't good for us? I think I'm going to figure out how to do some type of update post series to promote the #soberoctober and #nosweetsseptember to see if I can get anyone else to join in on the fun!

Hahah yeah, thankfully TV isn’t one of my mind altering substances! I don’t watch any of it and only listen to podcasts these days. I just simply don’t have the time and I actually don’t mind it. I don’t know if I can sit down and watch TV anymore these days!

Inktober sounds like a good one, I need another tattoo lol

You probably have a bunch of drum n bass ones already, you checked out Bassdrive podcasts?

It's dope. They have a different DJ every day if the week. You begin to recognize their styles. Was just rockin it in the gym but they're 2 hour episodes so lately I end up listening to D&B all day.

It is these little steps in the right direction that get us there!

The sugar thing would be more easy for me. I know they are just endorphin pills and could probably do that a month without too much discomfort. Maybe I will try for the hell of it.

As for the no drinking one, 30days dry will not only be good for your health, you will save a pile of cash (at least I would) and a fresh beer buzz will be there for your first drink after so long.

Yeah the sugar thing isn't as difficult but my wife reminded me that we have some birthdays in September lol so maybe I will have to carve out a little bit for those but otherwise no cheating!

I don't buy many beers, although I do enjoy a brew one or two nights a week, sometimes more these days. It's going to be a little challenging not to relax with a brew but I think it's a worthy attempt and saves a little bit of cash!

You should try the sugar one, it’s surprising how many things are sweetened these days!

Nothing is better than health. If a person does not take care of his health, he will face many problems in the next life. All these views are looking very beautiful, especially the sky is cloudy.

Haha donuts are treats we find irresistible even if we have plans to stay off sweet food. I think it's important to have some solid health goals and the reason is because it's important to stay well. The food we have nowadays do not do justice to our health, so we are the ones to make goals and filter what we'd eat and what we shouldn't as well.

Donuts are too damn good lol but for sure we need to have some health goals where we eliminate these things and eventually we may be able to keep them away, and improve our health even more.

Ecacrly, for me, I reduced taking carbonated drinks to maybe once or twice monthly. Some of these things are difficult, but we just have to do them.

Awesome go for it!
We, hubby and I, stopped about 3 weeks ago with all alcohol. No glass of wine in the evening or something with a meal out.
We do notice already a difference.
Our goal is to give it up fully. So far it works 😎 🤞🏻🍀

Ah you're better than I giving it up forever! Good luck with that, it’s a good thing to do.

If you’re in Europe it’s not as bad as it is in America, with the bullshit they add to the wines like sulfites and the pesticides sprayed on the grapes. But besides that, it’s better for your body overall to eliminate it. Just don’t replace it with Coca Cola LOL

Thank you so much @cmplxty 👋🏻😊 it is a good thing.
I managed to quit smoking 10 years ago… cold turkey so this should work too.
All for a better health.

Yes, I know… it’s different and one can taste and even smell the difference.
When I traveled to the US I notice. Will visit New England in October again 😉 planning the trip as we speak.

Nope… I don’t like sodas… especially Coca Cola. It’s rare I will drink it.

Oh ya where are you planning on going in New England?! Wonder if it’s semi close to where I’m at :o

Good for you, soda is poison! Lol

Definitely it will help build a good health for you and your family, but can you give it up fully?

You successfully stopped smoking since 10 years ago? Wow congratulations!!!! You've done noble. You need to tell us what you did to overcome that habit

Yes I did…
I threw away the shag and lighters etc. one day and stopped. And let me tell you I smoked a lot. Even rolled my own cigarettes out of the heaviest shag 🤐
So I am proud!

Before that I tried many times and not succeeded… but 10 years ago, my mindset changed and it happened.

Hope you can stop too if you smoke and really want it.
Do have a great midweek 👋🏻😊

I will like to try these things for myself this month. I have to set a goal for myself. I would love to use my data positively these days, spend less time on social media like Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. More of my time from next month will be on hive socials, my bought online courses like Amazon kdp and crypto trading. I love this self challenge stuff you gave yourself and I would channel mine into self development. The presearch how does it work and what is the warranty of getting paid from it. Thank you for this wonderful write up💪💪💪✌️✌️
