Three Tune Tuesday

Music is one of my favorite things to relax to, as many people can also probably have similar experiences. My musical tastes are incredibly diverse, I think. I can enjoy some really heavy gangster rap (not the radio trash), some metal, country, classical and so many others in between.

One of the coolest things about music is that all of the different kinds have their unique qualities to them and reasons that we listen to them. Some are more chill, others are upbeat and getting you motivated.

There is a post series Three Tune Tuesday by a bunch of people but it's all organized by @ablaze, one of the coolest dudes from Ireland around!

This Week's Choice: Gangster Rap

I think that I will try to confine the post to be 2 or 3 songs of the particular topic to keep it shorter and so that people can listen to one or all of the songs without taking too much time!

This week was inspired by @depressedfuckup and his comment a few weeks ago that the songs I chose were good but there didn't appear to be room for some rap or something like that. Well I'm going to dedicate a few weeks to some good rap! I've got gangster rap this week with some classics like L and Onyx but also some great shit like Nickatina.

Way more important to me though, is sharing a song with me! It doesn't have to be anything related at all to what my choices are but I would love for you to share a song or two with me!

Onyx - Street Ni**az

Big L - Furious Anger

Andre Nickatina - Awake Like an Owl

I've got gangster rap this week

I cracked up reading this😂😂 Oh and I notice even your writing is gangsta style today to match your songs😂😂

I just listened to them and I don’t know what to say about these. I think rap has been redefined for our generation.

Today, rap is basically heavy beat music about “the hood”, b^tches, money, who has the biggest shiniest AP or Rolly(watches) by a bunch of people with big chains and tats all over their body.

I’m sure these were quiet the jams back in the day. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to more of these in the later weeks.

Yeah the “rap” that is out there now is absolute horse shit lol. There may be a decent beat here and there but it’s nothing from its roots. Music evolves for sure and there’s a lot to be said about that but saying a few mumbled about a Rolex or something is stupid as hell. I can appreciate a decent beat but I need some good lyrics to accompany that otherwise I’m good with listening to it!

Lol I haven’t heard a lot of rap from back in the day, but I totally agree with rap today being total horse shit! It seems people today like the horse shit though as long it’s got some decent beat and some nicely worded nonsense.

Yeah I think people tolerate it but mainly because it’s all they play on the radio. The radio stations rarely if ever play anything that’s got some depth to it so people don’t know much else. I know that people, when they discover these older ones, end up liking it and look for more.

Okay, these were pretty wild this week. I'm not usually one for gangster rap, but you're right on saying that all music has unique qualities, and these were spot on. I'm glad I listened!

Hahah glad I didn't steer you wrong with these this week man! These songs are different than my normal but ones I still appreciate. I like rap songs with a good beat and when you can actually understand what they're saying. If you can't understand it then I don't enjoy it much! Plus the lyrics are pretty good and have some powerful elements to them.

Hahah damn, you’re old like me I’m sad you haven’t! Not really though, these were not as famous as the likes of Wu Tang and others so I can understand lol. I think I only heard of them from friends and skateboarding videos where they had the songs featured.

Nice one man! Some proper old school bangers for us this week. Always appreciate a bit of old school Rap and I guess we only remember the good ones, there was plenty of shite back then too, but ya just don't remember them like the hit you hear on the radio today..
