Pumpkin Carving

Hi fellow Weekenders,

The other day Siena had a great idea to do something different: carve a pumpkin for a smoke bomb!

Pumpkin Carving

If there's one thing that the little man loves to do is it's destroy things. I guess it's a boy thing, but in particular his kind of boy thing lol. We have some family members who say they used to do the same thing and we have others who said they didn't do that. He definitely gets it from the ones who liked doing it!

I started the pumpkin carving with the little man with what I thought was a cool look. He was obviously having fun with the pumpkin guts in the background there lol.

He was eventually interested in helping out! I think it was more because he was looking for something to add to his pile of stuff he was playing with lol.

He was having a lot of fun doing it but was surprised that the texture of the stuff was kind of gross feeling! It was funny to see for sure, he wasn't expecting it lol.

One of the things I love is getting everything out of the pumpkin that we can! We definitely took advantage of the opportunity to get some delicious pumpkin seeds from it. One thing that is awesome is being able to roast them with some seasonings for future use later in the year! We are trying to preserve as many things as we can, for a few reasons but one of them being that it's seemingly going to be a difficult winter for getting some products.

The really awesome thing was turning that pumpkin carving adventure into what we were planning on doing with it: using it with a really cool smoke bomb!

One of the things we are going to do is make sure the next pumpkin we carve will be one that's a bit smaller. It looks pretty awesome but it seems like it was a bit bigger than we thought so the smoke wasn't coming out of much of the pumpkin besides the eyes lol.

This one ended up coming out better! The smoke balls looked like they weren't going to give us a lot but they were pretty good themselves so we were able to snag some really interesting looking pictures. Thankfully the smoke wasn't as intense as we thought, we weren't sure if we were going to have the fire department called on us lol.

It's super fun man! You should check out the post coming on Friday I think. It's got more smoke bomb but way cooler! Small pumpkins are the way to go for sure!

The little man loved it, carving it was fun but also seeing the crazy smoke coming out of it as well!

Oh yeah, the Hattie monster will love it...she loved the snakes I lit up this past Fourth, so she's got it in her blood!

Greetings @cmplxty that's a nice carved pumpkin you got there, the smoke bomb turns out nice too (I like the blue one).

If there's one thing that the little man loves to do is it's destroy things. I guess it's a boy thing

I agree, my son also loves to destroy things.

I think it is time now for me to try this (carving pumpkin) since I now have my own squash crops. My only problem is that the squash that I planted only grows half the size of the pumpkin you carved and the is not as round as yours.

That's great for you to try! It's a lot of fun and when you're done you can eat it afterwards! The pumpkin we used in this one was too big but the post coming out on Friday this week I think it is, shows one where we used one that was much smaller and it came out great!

I am now excited to carve. If I did it, I will be the first-ever in my town to do it. I'll try to catch your post on Friday. Have a nice day ahead.

Should've ollied a skateboard over it while it was smoking for a cool gif that you could put on OpenSea and retire off of.

Hahah yeah dude! I might need to get that for next year, this was at Halloween and the pumpkins are now all disintegrated. Sounds like an awesome idea though dude!

Thanks for checking it out Matt! How are you doing? Hope you're well!

Looks super cool with the smoke bomb! This is always such an interesting tradition, the carving of pumpkins, that we do not have in South Africa but always see on TV and read about in books. Awesome photographs and it looks super fun. Cheers!

Thanks Phil, I appreciate it! My wife did an awesome job with this idea for sure. On Friday I have a similar post coming out where the smoke looks way cooler than this one! You should check it out! :D

The pumpkin carving is certainly an American thing and maybe because we live in the New England area, where we have Salem Massachusetts nearby, Halloween and all that is incredibly popular and brings people from all over to see it. We’ve all adopted some fun traditions!

Indeed! The pumpkin carving and trick or treat always look so much fun! They tried to do it here, but if you understand the political and economic situation in South Africa you will understand why it never took off. Oh I will check it out! I cannot wait 😁

The first picture with purple smoke look so cool! This is a great activity to do with your kids. Is there any way to make presearch a default search engine? Or you just open it on a different tab and search from there?

Thanks for stopping by Mary! It was a lot of fun for our son!

If you are using a laptop then you can download the Presearch extension and do it that way. It’s easy as pie!
If you’re on your phone then I open a new tab. I use the site as my primary bookmark so much that it adds an icon, the only icon lol, to my new tab in my phone. Maybe because I go directly there so much? Not sure yet lol.

Done! Haha. English is not my mother language and I often find myself googling for word when reading books. So switching to presearch to do my word searching will be efficient! Thanks for sharing this!

Great idea for pumpkin carving and keeping a boy who likes to destroy things entertained. I raised a couple of boys myself, 2 years apart in age, and I wish I'd have thought of this, they would have loved it. But there's still the grandkids, so I may get to try it out yet!

Hahaha! This is awesome! I especially like the Close Up, with the ( seemingly ) blue smoke coming out of the creepy pumpkin and seeing your faceless son with his shoelaces untied.

Can't help but wonder what a smoking carved pumpkin would look like in the dark, with lights shining on it, or perhaps even better, from behind

Hahah yeah, one thing our son loves to do is have his shoelaces untied! Sorry I didn't see this comment before, trying to stay ontop of things better!

The second edition of the pumpkin smoke bombs shows some really incredible views of them, have you checked that one out yet? It's my favorite!

I didn't check out that second post, although I glimpsed it.
I find it hard to keep track of people's posts if they don't reblog them but only keep them in their 'All Posts' section.

Untieds shoelaces rock! ;<)
