Monochrome Monday Sonar Station

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I'm back with the series on the submarine!

Monochrome Monday Sonar Station

The submarine is definitely one of my favorite places to have gone. We are going to be heading to another really cool historical place in the coming weeks! In the meantime, I will be trying to finish up the submarine series before I run out of photos and need to take more! Lol

The cool part about the submarine is how they are doing everything with these wild looking screens and all kinds of analog stuff. We are so used to computer screens that these readouts are awesome!

The notion of all these sensors is pretty incredible. The computer chip wasn't invented yet, at least in the way that we know it today. They've got all kinds of sensors and stuff that run on some wild type of electronic frequency and all that but without chips! The stuff for the military is most definitely top of the line for what they have but damn this stuff is wild.

All of these things are powered by really old wiring but the scary part is a lot of it is direct current lol. Alternating current is incredible and is important for a lot of things we take advantage of today such as moving electricity across power lines and then alternating it, ramping it up at our homes and outlets. Direct current is brutal and especially the fires that happen with DC! Being in a submarine hundreds or thousands of feet under the water while all that is going on is definitely stressful lol

The sonar station was really cool! I'm just making an assumption of that being the purpose here but I think that's what it was. That peekhole there I think is what they would look into and that gauge next to them gives them some hints as to where they are looking.
