Monochrome Monday Seahorses

Seahorses are one of the creatures in the ocean that used to get a lot of attention but for whatever reason these days, it really doesn't get a whole lot! I don't know why. These things are pretty badass looking! We recently went to one of the local aquarium places and it's been a while since I've seen a seahorse, so I wanted to make sure that I got a few photos to share for everyone!

Seahorses were a big hit when I was a kid, all of the aquariums had them. In recent years though, for some strange reason, they haven't been as popular. I don't know if it's because cartoons like Aquaman aren't as popular these days as they were in generations past but the seahorses are still equally an awesome little fella! Their anatomy is pretty unique, in that it's the males that carry the babies not the females! Represent to the dads out there LOL

The seahorses here were in one tank and they had a few different specimens. There were some hanging out in the back that I couldn't get a clear photo of but they had some that were hanging out in the front. This dude here seems like he's looking pretty depressed though, as challenging as that is. He's likely upset that he's not out in the big ocean fighting off predators and getting some female seahorse tail! I don't know for sure though LOL he could be sleeping for all I know, or it could be a female! No clue. With the head very much down though, looks depressed to me!

This dude, or chick, here has the coolest pattern to it! I love the way the face looks on this one, it looks pretty surreal and the also interesting thing about it is that I was playing around with different settings in my photo editing software called GIMP and for the series here, I chose one of the different presets for black and white. I think they came out pretty cool! Eventually I'll post the color ones, I have a few other posts that I need to get written and published before I can get to those but it will be forthcoming!

At the end of the day though, it was great to see the seahorses and show them to the little man! They aren't one of the sea creatures he sees very often so it was a great experience all around, and a nice memory for me to look back on as a kid!

I think a lot of people were excited about this creature back in the day, but it seems not anymore. Thanks for sharing some pictures and cool stats, so the male is modified to carry their young ones?

Yeah it's strange how they aren't a focus these days. They look awesome!

It’s cool to see the different species that tends the young. Seahorses do it and there’s another one that I can’t think of but it’s cool!

I don't know why, but I find seahorses to be both majestic and weird haha. But I've never really seen any upfront, I'd one day like to see how they really are in real-life.

Yeah they are cool but certainly strange! It's incredible the things that are in the ocean that's for sure, and we barely know a lot of the species!

and we barely know a lot of the species!

That's the actual mind boggling fact. 60% to 70% of our planet is still unknown to us lol.

Haha ya we are too busy squabbling about the foolish shit in my opinion, all by design of course. We could employ people throughout the world doing all kinds of wonderful things but instead the financial leaders want to force people to follow their dictates like this nitrogen and carbon cuts. What a fucked up world we are living in, when we could be appreciating and doing so many wonderful things with the smart people we’ve got!

90% of the problems we have all start with the dinosaurs in power. They need to go extinct already. 💀
