Today I wanted to appreciate a few photos in a bay, turning them into black and white!

Monochrome Monday By The Sea

Being able to go to various areas around us can bring up quite a few interesting things. One of them is definitely when you get to the edges of the ocean!

We are fortunate enough to live near the ocean, as I know many people aren't really that lucky or able to do that. That allows us to go exploring the areas that are close to it, in various ways! This was a party that we were invited to and we were there for a few hours of really nice time but what was really special were the views! Seeing the view out across the bay into the river that leads to the ocean was cool, a lot of times the rivers are not very big. They did a lot of work to dredge this out though, as we saw another area that was at the end of the dredging and it wasn't very deep at all lol in fact it was all mud but the boats were sitting there in several feet of water just 10 feet from that mud, in the middle of the river.

We make interesting choices, us humans. We often do things that seem counterintuitive such as purposefully digging out the natural landscape here in the river so that we can park our fancy boats. I guess that's the thing you run into when you have a lot of people with money in an area lol they tend to fund things like this. I don't think that it's necessarily a bad thing to have money and to want to enjoy something like this, but it's interesting and ironic. Money creates a lot of issues we have today but it also solves a lot of them as well, it's a weird double edged sword!

Looking at the pictures in black and white it's pretty cool though, especially this wonderful selection of boats and yachts. These things are beautiful indeed but I like the thought of them with minimal color and it gives a little eerie feeling to it in a way.

My favorite one though for this black and white series is the giant anchor! I am a big fan of nautical stuff and the place here had quite a bit of it but the giant anchor will certainly be a picture that I keep and will reuse quite a bit in the future. I think it's a pretty dramatic and interesting object that makes it even better with black and white. It feels ominous, of sorts, to have it visible like that. I know it was a nice and sunny day but having the anchor buried in the dirt there, turning the picture into black and white it feels like it was a situation after a storm if that makes sense. It's fun to think of the ways that just a change of color can invoke these types of things in us!
