Hive Free Nights Are Important

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to chat a little bit about the need for time to unwind!

Hive Free Nights are Important

It's not every day that I get to do something to unwind in a different manner. Most days for me, unwinding is relaxing in bed or at my laptop and writing a post or two, doing some engagement and spending some time on Hive.

Every now and again though, we need a break from Hive! This was one of those times.

I recently had some time one night and normally I would be in the Rant community going through some posts, seeing what was going on, what I needed to catch up on, or I would engage with some other people in my following list and spending time on Hive. I had a night though where I wasn't necessarily too tired to just fall right to sleep, but I also wasn't really in the mood to be spending on Hive! I know that can seem like a strange thing, where we aren't on Hive or promoting Hive or thinking about Hive all day every day and every night. It is an important part of life for sure! Just like a job though, you can have too much of something and get a little burned out.

I experienced that recently, where I was spending a lot more time on Hive than I normally would. I have been prepping for our vacation, writing multiple posts per night and spending every night on Hive where normally I would take a night or two off, go to sleep early and other nights do something else. When you are trying to crank out things like that and put in the extra effort, that can sometimes lead to a bit of an oversaturation of exposure and you need to take a step back to reflect.

I definitely enjoy the time on Hive, it's my home on the internet in most meanings of the word. I've got a bunch of friends on here, there's always great conversations, updates of people that I follow and all that good jazz. Just like real-life though, sometimes you have to take a step back from it all and recharge the batteries! I haven't had one of these nights in a while, but I've been trying to manage a decent balance of Hive prior to that so I think that's likely got a good bit to do with it.

My mindset over the last few weeks has been too aggressive, trying to make sure that I don't miss out on a day of posting and getting all of the things lined up, posts written, engagement done, people visited. It feels a lot like planning a big party in some ways, and then once you arrive at the party all of the planning comes and it's over in the blink of an eye. I kind of feel like that with this bit I've got here hahaha. It's certainly not a bad thing, but I've got to do a little better of a job of getting myself on the right track before I get to a situation like this.

I was doing a really good job of getting posts written and scheduled a week into the future so that I have some wiggle room and can keep things fresh. For the past 2 months or so though, I've gotten into a bit of a rut where I'm only at 2 days max, sometimes only one day hahaha and then I get a little stressed out. When my wife said that we are going on vacation though, I panicked a little and realized that I have to get myself back into gear of not being lazy and getting the stuff written that I want. That went really well for about a week, week and a half but then I hit a wall. I checked Hive after my son fell asleep which is usually 830pm local time and I was on Hive for about 10 minutes and I was aimlessly scrolling, not really having a purpose and couldn't find anything that I was interested in.

I knew I had hit my limit of Hive for the evening! It was barely 845 by the time I was done and I'm normally on Hive until 1030 or 11 every night. It was an interesting scenario to be in, because I wanted to spend a bit more time being awake instead of just going to bed. I ended up doing something very out of character for me lately and watched a show! I don't get to spend any time watching TV or shows anymore really. I'm always cleaning, organizing, getting things done and putting my son to bed. After those are all done it's Hive and then bed. With losing my taste for Hive, I was confused at what to do when you're not exhausted.

The good thing about the Hive-free night was that I felt a little invigorated the following night and I was able to write a few posts, get them scheduled and feel a little better. For me, I was certainly thinking that it's going to be important to get a good rhythm going again so that I don't get burned out. If I can figure out how to write 2 posts a night and do that consistently and have things scheduled out into the future the way that I like, then I think that I will be in a much better mental state and feel like I'm having the fun that I'd like to instead of trying to cram it in, similar to how we would cram in studying before a test.

Cramming things in often leads to a crash, thankfully this was just a one-night deal!

I totally get it. Recently I also took a break from Hive for over a week to decompress after a crazy week of work and I just didn't feel like I could contribute anything to the blockchain while feeling rather zombified and brain-dead.

While some people feel the compulsion to write every day, I will often write a post and then think "this is shit, why would anyone even want to read it?" and then it gets put in the trash can lol.

It's weird that I had a similar thing and ended up watching an episode of Jack Ryan. Well, now I'm kinda hooked on it 🤣 I'm glad you enjoyed your break and it helped to re-energize your Hive gusto.

That's good you took time off! That's important! With how busy the fall is going to be for me, I think I might end up taking some time off as well, who knows lol.

I usually don't write something that I think would end up being shit, or I just have too high of an opinion of the content LOL I don't know :D I do have some posts that are sitting in draft that I don't know if I will ever publish, I may even just discard them because the content in it was of a different nature that I don't know if I want immortalized on the chain.

I heard that Jack Ryan is a good show! I haven't seen it, but it has good actors in it if I'm thinking of the right one!

Sounds like you have a lot lined up. Not a bad thing when life gets busy, but having down time is not a bad thing either.

Lol, I have to admit that a lot of what I post could be tons better, but they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it's all rather subjective I think. Ultimately for me, it shouldn't be to impress or outdo other people, it's not a competition.

Jack Ryan is a good show although a lot of it is very typical hollywood style showboating and I sit there critiquing it a lot, but it's still good. It's got the John Krasinski in it from the office. A very different kind of role from when he was playing pranks on Dwight 🤣

Hello @cmplxty

It seems you took a peek into my life and came up with this because everything in this post screams my name, my name in capital letters.

Hive is really addictive, that's why I try my very best to do everything before I come on Hive, I tell myself "I'm gonna be here for just 30 minutes" boom! and it's two hours already!.

I also need Hive free nights as well.

Thanks for sharing dear friend😃

Yeah, that's what happens for sure! We get overwhelmed and need to take a step back, even from the things that we get joy from. Too much of most things can end up working against us! I'm glad you take Hive free nights, it keeps us fresh I think!

Te expone a mucha gente y hace conexiones.

By going to such a place and seeing the natural sights, no matter how much trouble a person's mind is in, the person becomes very happy and forgets all the sorrows and starts enjoying happiness.
