¡Nuestra primera salida al cine! [Esp-Eng]

Para todos mis queridos lectores de hoy, feliz día.

Vengo a contarles lo feliz que nos hizo a mi pareja y a mí llevar por primera vez a nuestra pequeña hija de 2 años, 10 meses y 3 semanas al cine. Fue espléndido.

Si tienes hijos o algún cercano con niños, habrás notado lo difícil que es recuperar ciertos hábitos personales que frecuentemente tenemos los adultos y con niños chicos se hace casi imposible retomarlos. Para Leal y para mí ir al cine era uno de esos placeres, era de nuestras citas preferidas y desde los siete meses de embarazo ya no pudimos volver a gozarlo hasta hace muy poco.

Personalmente, estuve esperando con ansias el momento en el que mi hija estuviese preparada para entrar en una sala de cine. Siempre encuentras notas que te dicen que la pantalla es muy grande y brillante para ellos, el sonido muy fuerte, que las películas no son aptas, y un sin fin de recomendaciones que te frenan a llevar a los chicos a disfrutar de una peli en la gran pantalla. Pues, en vista de que nuestra pequeña princesa ya ha logrado ver largometrajes completos en casa (siempre aptos para su edad), come cotufas (palomitas de maíz) como una profesional, y ya tiene casi sus tres años, nos arriesgamos a llevarla a ver su primera película en pantalla gigante. Y ¿Qué creen? Pues, lo disfrutó al máximo. Salvo en el segundo en el que le quité el vaso de refresco (gaseosa), no hubo caras arrugadas en ningún momento.

Nos decidimos por los Minions ya que la otra opción era la polémica Lightyear, y no la escogimos, no por lo que algunos no lo hicieron, sino porque nos pareció que entre las dos opciones, la primera era más para la edad de Lizzie. Además que ambos queremos ver lightyear y si la nena no se adaptaba, ninguno iba a querer salirse de la sala, ja, ja, ja.

La tarde fue perfecta: estuve trabajando en el turno diurno así que esperé que Leal llegará con Lizzie a buscarme. De allí caminamos al shopping y de camino nos comimos unas empanadas tipo argentino que nos encantan. Llegamos al Show Case y compramos las 3 entradas; las nuestras en promo 2*1 y la de Lizzie en precio para menores, así que, nos salió súper bien de precio. Esperamos unos cuarenta minutos para la función de los Minions que nos correspondía y en eso nos pasamos un rato por el parquecito infantil de McDonald's del centro comercial. Allí Lizzie se divirtió un montón e hizo una amiguita. Y cuando llegó la hora de entrada, subimos, escogimos un combo de un balde gigante de cotufas, dos gaseosas y un par de golosinas para la esperada función de aproximadamente hora y media que nos esperaba.

Elizabeth estuvo atenta desde los trailers hasta casi el final de la película donde se distrajo conversando parlanchina con una nena quizá un año o dos mayor que ella que estaba en el asiento de arriba. (No me gustan las personas que hablan en el cine pero amo ver cómo mi hija se relaciona con otros niños). Tuvimos un regreso a casa tranquilo y fuimos muy, muy felices en familia mostrándole a nuestra hija uno de nuestros hobbies favoritos.

Si me preguntas, para llevar a un niño chico como la mía al cine, asegúrate que pueda permanecer atento a una película en casa, muéstrale los adelantos de las opciones de películas a ver cuál le llama más la atención y cómprale sus golosinas favoritas en la dulcería. Nosotros la paseamos por el lugar un rato antes para hacer de su experiencia un rato agradable y generarle expectativas de que lo que vendría a continuación sería genial. Y lo fue. Ahora estamos planificando llevarla a ver la otra opción y rogando que le agrade tanto como la primera.

To all my dear readers today, happy day.

I come to tell you how happy it made my partner and I to take our little daughter of 2 years, 10 months and 3 weeks to the movies for the first time. It was splendid.

If you have children or someone close to you with children, you will have noticed how difficult it is to regain certain personal habits that we adults often have, and with young children it is almost impossible to do so. For Leal and me, going to the movies was one of those pleasures, it was one of our favorite dates and since we were seven months pregnant we couldn't enjoy it again until recently.

Personally, I was looking forward to the moment when my daughter would be ready to enter a movie theater. You always find notes telling you that the screen is too big and bright for them, the sound is too loud, the movies are not suitable, and endless recommendations that stop you from taking the kids to enjoy a movie on the big screen. Well, since our little princess has already managed to watch full-length movies at home (always suitable for her age), eats popcorn like a pro, and is almost three years old, we took the risk of taking her to see her first movie on the big screen. And what do you think? Well, she enjoyed it to the fullest. Except for the second I took the glass of soda away from her, there were no scrunched up faces at any point.

We decided on the Minions since the other option was the controversial Lightyear, and we didn't choose it, not because of what some people didn't, but because we felt that between the two options, the first one was more for Lizzie's age. Plus we both want to see Lightyear and if the baby didn't fit in, neither of us would want to leave the room, ha ha ha ha.

The afternoon was perfect: I was working the day shift so I waited for Leal to arrive with Lizzie to pick me up. From there we walked to the shopping mall and on the way we ate some Argentinean empanadas which we love. We arrived at the Show Case and bought the 3 tickets; ours at a 2*1 promo and Lizzie's at the price for minors, so we got a great price. We waited about forty minutes for the Minions show and then we went to the McDonald's playground in the mall. There Lizzie had a lot of fun and made a little friend. And when it was time to go in, we went upstairs, chose a combo of a giant bucket of cotufas, two sodas and a couple of candy for the expected performance of about an hour and a half that awaited us.

Elizabeth was attentive from the trailers until near the end of the movie where she was distracted by chatty conversation with a little girl maybe a year or two older than her who was in the seat upstairs. (I don't like people talking in the movie theater but I love watching my daughter interact with other kids). We had a quiet ride home and were very, very happy as a family showing our daughter one of our favorite hobbies.

If you ask me, to take a toddler like mine to the movies, make sure she can stay tuned to a movie at home, show her previews of the movie choices to see which one catches her attention the most and buy her favorite treats at the candy store. We walked her around the place a while beforehand to make her experience a pleasant one and raise her expectations that what would come next would be great. And it was. Now we are planning to take her to see the other option and praying that she likes it as much as the first one.
