El arte del ahorro || La Alcancía de Lizzie [Esp - Eng]

Feliz día, quería comunidad de mamis y papis escritores y lectores. Hoy vengo con un tema súper interesante que quiero compartir con ustedes: "El arte del ahorro". Y en familia, todo es más divertido hacerlo, incentivando a nuestra pequeña y cultivando hábitos en ella.

Aprender sobre el ahorro y el valor de las cosas es súper importante para nuestros hijos, su desarrollo y su futuro. Yo recuerdo que cuando era niña, mi papá me daba dinero semanal y yo lo guardaba y reunía buenas cifras, lástima que perdí ese don, ja, ja,ja. En casa, con nuestra pequeña Elizabeth Victoria, estamos enseñándola a juntar dinero, moneda a moneda, billete a billete en su alcancía. He visto que en este país es costumbre que los niños tengan asignada su mesada y mensualmente los lleven a comprar cosas con su propio dinero y así los enseñan a administrar sus propios ingresos desde pequeños y nosotros como padres queremos que nuestra pequeña no sea la excepción.

I remember when I was a child, my dad would give me money weekly and I would save it and collect good numbers, too bad I lost that gift, ha, ha, ha, ha. At home, with our little Elizabeth Victoria, we are teaching her to collect money, coin by coin, bill by bill in her piggy bank. I have seen that in this country it is customary that children are assigned their allowance and monthly they are taken to buy things with their own money and so they are taught to manage their own income from an early age and we as parents want our little girl to be no exception.

Hace un año, para su cumpleaños número 2, su abuela Yadira, mi suegra, le regaló a la niña una alcancía de madera bastante grande que le mando a hacer personalizada con unos amigos de mi suegro. Ella llama Victoria a mi hija, por su segundo nombre, así que fue el nombre que le colocó. Junto con la alcancía le dio una gran bolsa de monedas para enseñarla a introducir cada una dentro de la caja de madera. A partir de ese momento, todos en casa dispusimos de las monedas de nuestros bolsillos, del cambio del almacén, de las monedas del subte, del sencillo en general para la alcancía de Lizzie.

A year ago, for her second birthday, her grandmother Yadira, my mother-in-law, gave her a very big wooden piggy bank that she had custom made by some friends of my father-in-law. She calls my daughter Victoria, after her middle name, so that was the name she gave her. Along with the piggy bank he gave her a big bag of coins to teach her how to put each one inside the wooden box. From that moment on, all of us at home disposed of the coins in our pockets, change from the grocery store, coins from the subway, singles in general for Lizzie's piggy bank.

Fue un reto llenar esa gran caja y aguantar la curiosidad de no abrirla en el camino. En casa hicimos apuestas de cuánto habría dentro. Y al momento de contar, todos participamos en el asunto. Leal luchó para desarmarla, utilizó destornilladores, un cuchillo que rompió en el camino, hasta un martillo, luego separamos los billetes y monedas según su valor para poder contar y saber exactamente la cantidad de dinero recaudado. Fue una actividad que nos tomó unos 11 meses para reunir unos 6 mil pesos argentinos en monedas de 1, 2, 5 y 10 pesos, más algunos billetes de diferentes denominaciones. Elizabeth tomó el hábito de introducir dinero dentro de su alcancía y ahora tiene su propio fondo de ahorro. Para los que conozcan la moneda argentina quizá les parezca muy poco para todo ese tiempo pero tomando en cuenta que fue dinero sacado de vueltos de compras pequeñas para mi hija de dos años, nos pareció muchísimo.

It was an activity that took us about 11 months to collect about 6 thousand Argentine pesos in coins of 1, 2, 5 and 10 pesos, plus some bills of different denominations. Elizabeth got into the habit of putting money into her piggy bank and now has her own savings fund. For those of you who know the Argentine currency, it may seem very little for all that time, but considering that it was money taken from small purchases for my two year old daughter, it seemed like a lot to us.

Todas las monedas las organizamos con cinta adhesiva y las cambiamos en un bazar que recibe cambio y volvimos a guardar el dinero en la alcancía. Ahora vendrá el proceso de enseñarle el valor de su dinero y a ser responsable en su gasto; cada cosa a su tiempo. Todavía no cumple los 3 años.

We organized all the coins with tape and exchanged them at a bazaar that receives change and put the money back in the piggy bank. Now will come the process of teaching him the value of his money and to be responsible in his spending; one thing at a time. He is not yet 3 years old.
